I followed this group in the hopes it would do what the title suggests, but in fact it seems to be full of recommendations for unproven (and proven not to work) , so is it worth following? Are there proper discussions with evidence at the core, or is it not the forum I am looking for?

You are right, many people seem to find the unorthodox interesting and evidence boring. I am not sure if the group works as intended. If you want evidence, it's easy to find from authoritative sites such as NHS Choices. But that won't satisfy the conspiracy theorists.
Look up German Researchers, Feb 15th Journal Jama Neurology, link Proton Pump Inhibitors with 44% increased incidence of alziemers with long term use.
NHS says evidence inconclusive.
Look up Vitamin B12 deficiency, reduced absorbtion of B12 by low acid conditions, symptoms include decreased ability to think, poor muscle function etc. Some changes may become permanent.
We are in agreement. With no moderators to point out non-evidenced bullshit the conspiracy theorists have free reign to spread scare stories here. Very disappointing.
