Hi Bluelady-sing apparently the NHS 12 week diet plan can help with PCOS so here’s a link:

And here’s a link from Healthline, where they advise avoiding highly refined carbs like white bread and artificial sugar:

My opinion is a healthy wholesome diet with plenty of exercise and keeping your weight within a healthy BMI range is very beneficial to all of us.

You come across as someone who eats well especially with your lovely home grown veg so good luck with this and I hope members with experience of PCOS can help you. 😊

The cause of PCOS of often high insulin levels so a low carb diet is what's needed. Especially avoid foods with a high gyceamic index like white bread.

Diets for PCOS seem to follow trends, so it was LCHF and now I think it's shift a bit closer to cycle synching (adapting your exercise & diet to suit where you are in your cycle).

Or another one I've heard mentioned a lot is Seed Cycling:

Both are kinda anecdotal, but the people that specifically research women's nutrition, do seem to think that a strict every-day-the-same calorie/carb limited diet, isn't what's natural for us.

If these don't appeal, then you might still benefit from ensuring you eat enough fibre and introducing probiotic foods, as oestrogen is regulated by the gut. Bad bacteria tend to love sugar and processed foods, so limiting these will help with hormone regulation too.

Hi Bluelady-sing ,

For PCOS, what I do is count my carbs. and eat low carb. foods since sometimes, PCOS and Diabetes can go together. I was diagnosed with PCOS in my 20's (officially by my doctor). I try to not eat white rice for both medical conditions since white rice raises my blood sugars too high and too fast. Also, if I don't eat low carb., the PCOS can get worse with its symptoms. I eat lots of foods with protein in them.

Hi Bluelady-sing, I don't know enough about PCOS but looking at other responses below you may find recipes on ushasveryown.com useful. There are recipes for wholegrain rice which is far superior to white rice in terms of health benefits plus recipes using coconut sugar as opposed to refined sugar. Good luck
