Balanced Diet
Hi Syed and welcome
Take a look at the NHS advice on a balanced diet here, which is based on solid scientific principles:
Hi syednc
I would like to welcome you to the Healthy eating forum. I hope you enjoy participating here.

Look at low carb, high fat eating. Websites, the Diet Doctor, Jason Fung, Tim Noakes. All worth a look.
I understand what you say! Thanks for clearing that.
While you are considering your options, please consider WFPB (While Foods Plant-Based). Whole Foods means consuming only unprocessed or marginally processed food (no refined sugar, oil, etc) and Plant-Based means no meat, dairy or eggs. Some will say that this is not balanced. I say it's the most balanced because I consume only what has been proven to be the best diet by consuming only the "cleanest" foods and emulating "Blue Zones" and other studies. Please watch this video which explains just a few of the many benefits of a vegan diet. As it's presented here, it's easy and enjoyable to stick to for the long-term. youtu.be/lLqINF26LSA
A balanced diet is just that...balanced. Not cutting anything out completely from your diet, eating everything in moderation
I eat healthy fats:- avacado, nuts, olive oil etc....and I still eat a little bit unhealthy fats purely for my pleasure
I eat carbs:- fruit, veg, wholemeal pasta, brown rice, wholemeal bread.
I eat protein:- beans, meat, fish/seafood
I eat dairy:- yoghurt, cheese
I have tried to cut down on junk food and crap. I would be lying if I said I didn't eat any junk at all...but definitely less.
I try to cook a lot more from scratch and eat more whole foods
Honestly, the word "balanced" is probably meaningless in the context of diet. It implies there's an ideal amount of this and that, but since humans thrive on virtually anything, this can't possibly be true. There is one single diet that's pretty much guaranteed to cause poor health and obesity, and that's the Standard Western Diet. There's about 100 years worth of research on the problems caused whereever it was introduced.
