Ragu is a simple tomato based sauce from Italy..
Often has the three vegetables in the sauce. They are: Onions, Carrots and Celery. This is called: Soffrito.
Using tin tomatoes or even jar of Passata with barely few ingredients makes a good choice for cooking in a slow cooker.
These are my favourites to cook ..
Ragu sauce basic
Soffrito diced fine .
Passata or tin tomatoes.
Herbs Italian seasoning. one teaspoon
Stockcube Tomato puree touch sugar.
Pancetta cubes.
Method
Fry Pancetta cubes known as lardons no oil..
Drain to slow cooker .
Note blender ideal for sauces add Passata,or tin tomatoes, herbs, stock cube touch water blitz to slow cooker with Soffrito and any meat of your choice.
Note seal oven first roast any meat then to slow cooker .
From that one recipe can change it slightly.
Bolognese Ragu same sauce add fried saute Mushrooms.
Pepper Ragu omit Soffrito add Peppers spices chickpeas.
Spices Cumin, Ground Coriander, Cinnamon. Use half teaspoon each.
Again remove Soffrito add Lardons same sauce base Rosemary, Cherry tomatoes Cannellini beans.
Vegetable Ragu taste of the Med omit Soffrito add Zucchini, Peppers, Cherry tomatoes, Aubergine or Mushrooms ..
Potatoes mixed beans tin and Cherry tomatoes .
Peppers with it Red ones or mixed.
Just same basic sauces ..
With some changes.
Can add Pasta wholewheat Rice ..
