I've not heard of 5htp before, so I googled it and it suggested it's more of an anti-depressant? The side effects looked a bit horrible, including nausea. I've been in medication like that in the past, and you do lose weight, but only because you're too nauseated to eat :D

I see you're also a member on the thyroid forum - do you think thereight be some issues with being under-medicated?

I also have Hashimotos, I found a lot of my inability to lose weight came down to low vitamin levels (vitamin D, B12) and poor gut health. If you can work on them, you'll hopefully find your weight loss a bit easier.

Hello I would not take any supplements...

Why waste money...

Understand may the need to increase and desire of appetite there are things you can do..

Good start would be the following making sure portion control is the way forward..

Use bowls not plates..

Plenty of vegetables fruit and herbs spices stimulate the appetite but also some are useful to supress appetite..

Fennel seeds is one, useful to just sprinkle on cereals porridge..

The problems with some supplements also is they may contain less of the ingredient you supposed to get or make any underlying health condition worse.

I know of people who have bought products make their conditions worse.

Eat healthy use a balanced diet small meals be the answer if not hungry but things like

Soup Pasta and Rice with plenty of vegetables..

Whole grains and whole wheat are ideal solutions because they contain all the nutrients to help build appetites..

Please also added in some ideas for appetite if needed..

Home made soup

Pasta vegetables ones use whole wheat pasta or those made from other grains corn and rice..

Rice whole grain mix with vegetables freezer or use fresh..

Be inventive use lean meat cheap cuts remove skin..

Chicken Turkey good value , not breast mainly thigh and leg meat...

Serve large helpings vegetables use tomato pepper sauces..

After each meal and during drink water and eat bread and yoghurt and fruit ..

During meals set a time and set the length of time..

Chew sit relax put music on... Each time leave twenty minutes between each meal..

Metabolic rate between each meal means stomach to brain signals when full... If continued eating then does not register...

Then stomach problems begin...

Digestion issues and weight gain becomes a problem...

Please if you have any questions please ask me happy to help..

Please take care
