Hi shaz

Everyone has their own trigger foods that can cause IBS. It can be helpful to try to work out your own by using a food diary. Has your doctor given you any advice on what to eat?

The link that Jerry has supplied is very useful. Cutting out foods that are high in FODMAPs can work very well for some people. Cutting out gluten and lactose is usually a good place to start.

I don’t find that eating fat gives me any problems, but I have to be careful not to eat too much fibre. Woody recommends taking inulin, but this gives me real digestive problems so I avoid it.

This link gives information about the FODMAPs diet.

Some folk find Gluten affects them, others milk, some find the potato family (spuds, tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, chillies).

It's something to experiment with and find out for your own gut. Mine is a gluten intolerance. Supermarket bread causes me great discomfort, but sourdough and Brioche I have little problem with. I can't manage cakes, unless they are made with Almond flour. or pies, biscuits. even Pizza is off the menu now. I also have problems with peppers, chillies and aubergines. When I want Pasta, I use Rice noodles.

Cheers, Midori.

I have to follow the low fodmap diet. It’s only supposed to be for a month of two but for me personally I have to do it all the time.

I’m the same Gillywater. I’ve managed to introduce a few higher Fodmaps foods in small quantities but I’m very happy to have found a way of eating that suits my body!
