Hi everyone,

As this is in the news every day with how it's spreading and affecting our lifestyles which is worrisome, it is however a very fragile virus so we can protect ourselves to some degree with simple precautions and hygiene.

My opinion is the healthier we eat the better regardless so our bodies are more resilient to infections.

Here's the NHS Coronavirus advice, please see:

In the UK the daylight hours are growing faster so we have more UV light and that zaps virus' so I'm pleased about that.

We had someone come to our team meeting yesterday to talk to us about plans for managing this. They will be ordering us masks and other protective gear in case we have to go to see patients with the virus, though we are Therapy not medical so we would only be seeing people in their own homes still well enough for exercises etc. Some people are concerned how quickly the virus is spreading but we were advised there is a lot of scaremongering in the media especially the tabloid newspapers, the fatality rate is currently less than seasonal flu, and people stockpiling cupboards full of foods, medicines and household goods aren’t helping. It’s sensible to have a few extra staples in case of needing to self isolate for a fortnight but panic buying in large quantities means there will be nothing left for people who can’t afford to do that. I’ve stopped reading about it or listening to news on the radio as it isn’t helpful, we will get regular official updates at work so I’ll be guided by those.

Thanks for the update. Just be careful as you are in the health service that the words and information that you impart are also very important to the general public. Using words like "frightening" can only add to the concern.

I am glad that you took it in right spirit.

I learnt the power of words when I was volunteering to help disabled people with their computers in their home. I was helping someone with severe OCD and I said one wrong innocent word that I would use for all clients. But that word just spent the person into a panic. So I stopped using the phrase "what is the problem with your computer" to "what would you like me to help you with today".
