Milky sugar red top or blue

Eeek. Si I just discovered that by being healthy and drinking skimmed milk. A pint glass every other day that I am actually consuming more sugar than if I jas drank full fat milk.

I need to check the difference of semi skimmed. However for the sake of an extra gram of fat blue milk appears to be the healthier option.

Any thoughts.

Sacrifice the fat and end up with more sugar.

Have the fat but less sugar.

I'm pre diabetic on an nhs problem so looking to reverse the results hence my discovery.

Obviously reducing milk content is best and drinking water.

Hello M17el I drink full fat goats milk as that has far more nutrients than skimmed milk, here are 2 links one that answers your question with calories and nutriritonal values the other compares many milks and their nutrional values:

Pre-diabteics often benefit from an LCHF diet so full fat milk could well be suitable for you combined with exercise and healthy eating.

Have you tried almond milk? One must also be careful there as well...just read the labels.

Hi M17el

Another article for you, looking at full fat milk and diabetes. It looks as though full fat is a better option.

I was diagnosed prediabetic but my blood sugars are currently in the healthy range. I always have full fat milk, as well as lower sugar proportionally to fat I prefer the tase. I’ll have semi skimmed in my tea if someone else is making it and that’s what theyve got, but skimmed milk just tastes like water to me.

Hi and welcome to the group, M17el ,

Have you talked to your doctor about changing your diet? Did they do an A1c ( 3-4 month blood test for blood sugars from 90 days)?

Have a look at the Topics section for ideas and suggestions for recipes. We have a Diabetes/PreDiabetes section under the Topics section. Also, have a look at the DRWF free leaflets. They are free to download/read and/or listen to anytime. drwf.org.uk/understanding-d...
