I’ve just started running 🏃♀️ 😂 or jog walking. In my 3rd week. But I haven’t ran since Thursday as my knee really hurts. But I think I’m eating too much protein. I’ve put weight on. My belly’s huge. Thighs have gone bigger and I’m feeling down. I’m 5 foot 4. Was 62 kg. Now a bit more. Quite active. 43 years of age.to be honest, it’s probably my 1st time trying to get fit. I walk my dogs 🐕 I’m on my feet most days with work. I try and consume 50/60 grams of protein a day. My fibre could be better. Where am I going wrong??? 🙃
Protein : I’ve just started running... - Healthy Eating
Protein
You’re protein is right in line with recommended daily allowance just above sedentary limits. I’m a long distance runner and I eat twice as much as you do and no weight gain. I’m 5’3” and 51 years old, been running 7 years now.
Excess calories causes us to gain weight. Water weight is part of it but factors cause us to lose and gain water weight daily. Sodium, carb intake (eating more carbs than usual), muscle recovery and repair, female hormones (depending where you are in your cycle). You now have a knee injury and inflammation I’m sure with that. Thighs being bigger to me says muscle pump and maybe some muscle gain.
I am very watchful of my calories and macros doing as much running as I do. Try to see where your diet is and take it slow while building up running and your fitness. Running is high impact be sure to allow adequate recovery and building slow. I hope the knee heals soon.
Thank you 😊
