High protein diets lead to shorter lifespan

Are you eating more than 60g protein per day?

Building on other research, according to a new research paper "Regulation of the Elongation Phase of Protein Synthesis Enhances Translation Accuracy and Modulates Lifespan" sciencedirect.com/science/a... they are arguing that too much protein somehow makes protein synthesis happen incorrectly, and this then translates into diseases such as alzheimers, shorter life spans etc.

To understand this more clearly perhaps this link will help. theage.com.au/lifestyle/hea...

Very interesting thanks for this. 😊

Ever since my doctor told me that he was worried about the high level of protein in my blood testing some 20 years ago, that was also when he was not worried about my high cholesterol but prescribed satins. i always been interested in articles that were about protein.

Things have to make sense to the reader in order for it to be believed.

What made sense to me was an article that I read that said.

Under certain circumstances, our need for protein can increase.... however, if we eat to much then we need, the excess protein will be broken down and used as energy. Even though a relatively high protein intake is healthy and safe, eating massive amounts of protein is unnatural and may cause harm.

Ware as, I gave up reading the article you put on when it said. The body made mistakes in processing protein when we ate to much. Much in the same way that we make mistakes when we type to fast.

Eat a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and all the wonderful foods that we have, and don't worry to much about how long you may or may not live. And you will live longer and happier.

Eating less protein has been associated with longer life many times. We just got it into our heads a long time ago that protein was really important. And it is, up to a point, but like anything else, too much of a good thing can be bad. Here's a video about how reducing protein (one amino acid in particular) can let you live longer and healthier: youtu.be/dwJASNFy9XQ

Thanks for the video. Not that I agree with it, but the next video on that list was one of my favorites and I watched it again.

The oiling of America by Mary Enig.

The list is generated for you based on what you've watched before. Just for grins, I found and watched the first 30 minutes of your (2hr) video. Nice history lesson took me back to growing up in Iowa, eating all kinds of fatty meat and gravy in the 1960s-80s. I swear more than a third of my high school class are dead already. Reunions have been a real drag. Anyway, I read a little about Enig and she was right about trans-fats but wrong about saturated fats. I admire her for trying to give good dietary advice. I'll leave it at that.

Yes two hours is a long time so is half an hour.

It was to long for me the first time round to take it all in. But I it all fits in eventually.

Thank God we have the information we have now on the internet.

We can make up our own minds on who is right and who is wrong.

I worked with a guy who consumed so much protein (mostly in protein powders), he pushed himself into kidney failure. Don't know the full story, it was through the grapevine, but I do make sure to tell the guys I work with, who are just obsessed with the stuff! A couple of them target 1g of protein per lb of body weight.
