Please share any natural ways to detox from sugar. I’m a major sugar eater, but I know this is no good for my overall health. Any suggestions are appreciated ❤️

Your liver and kidneys will do a good job of detoxing your body if you support them by giving them nourishing food and cutting out the sugary junk. The hard bit is getting your head around not eating the things you know aren’t doing you any good.

There’s only really two ways to cut the sugar right down, either gradually cut it out bit by bit or go cold turkey. It depends which way would be easiest for you as an individual.

The cold turkey method can be rough, feeling shaky at first and headaches, but some people find it psychologically easier to just have a cut off point where they stop, power through it for a couple of weeks, then it really does get a lot easier and suddenly you can taste subtle sweetness in natural foods that was previously drowned out by all the added sugar.

Some people find that too uncomfortable and prefer to gradually wean themselves off the sugar. This probably results in less side effects but you have to keep to your reduction plan over a longer period to get to the same point as above.

It can help to focus on what you CAN eat rather than what you can’t. So plan meals you really enjoy to reduce the feeling of deprivation from cutting out the sugary stuff. Don’t fall into the trap of eating low fat “diet” food with artificial sweeteners instead of sugar as they come with their own problems and don’t re-educate your taste buds. Lots of fresh food and don’t cut out natural fat, then you will get full taste and give you body the nutrients it needs to support you to do this.

Good luck 😀🍀

Good luck with this, feel free to message if you want to talk x

Hi - I have a major sweet tooth, if left to its own devices, I'd be banging down sweets and cakes all the time.

For me, I started small. Cut out some of the fizzy drinks, have 1 sweet instead of 2, 1 sugar in coffee, not 2 etc etc. When that felt normal, I then reduced a bit more and replaced the snacks with fruit or protein bars. It was a gradual process and I will still have days when I'll eat way to many hard boiled sweets.... but thats ok..... it's only every now and then.

Then I started C25K and that helped again.

Its all baby steps - Good luck.

Ps - If you want a brownie, have a brownie........... Just don't eat the whole tray! ;)

It is said that sugar is six times more addictive than heroin.

My wife and I used a Daniel Fast :

The Daniel Fast: Feed Your Soul, Strengthen Your Spirit, and Renew Your Body by Susan Gregory.

This process is not easy but worked for us!

I followed a similar process to LoungeLizaard and found that once I had eventually reduced sugar I didn't crave it so much. Eat it and crave it more and more.

Once I got things under control I found I could eat a small amount of fruit without going off the rails.

I will say I have fallen off the wagon on occasion but I just climb back on again :)

Stick at it and you will get there :) Good luck :)

The best thing that's worked for me in the past has been salads. Lots and lots of salads. That and protein. There was a 3 month period when I ate nothing but salads and chicken. Usually included black and blueberries (low sugar content), baked chicken (grilled could work too, but watch that barbecue sauce), and water. Maybe oatmeal for breakfast. Whenever I felt hungry I would just make another salad. Not the least expensive way to eat, but not the most expensive, and if you can get used to eating the same thing a lot, it worked really well for me a few years back. I was in great shape :)
