So recently, I realized I love hummus. With that being said, does anyone know what part of the grocery store chickpeas are at? I'd love to find some, but I do not know where to look for them in the store.

Quick Question
Hi Hidden ,
Have you checked out the bean/canned foods section of the stores?
I did, but not very well. There was a man stocking food items on the shelf, so I wasn't able to look thoroughly enough. Maybe I just need to go back and look more.

In US (CA) it is mostly known as Garbanzo Beans. They are available in all grocery super stores. Follow the link below for Walmart store:
Hi Hidden
Hope you enjoy your chickpeas (garbanzo beans) - I didn't realise they had alternative names - so I've learned something today. I think that hummus is delicious. Yum!

I didn't know there were different names too!
Interesting that you dont see them in the shops , Mexico and US both grow the Kabuli type, which is what I grew in Australia. The varieties are quite extensive - here is a short list of whats available ( grown ) here - largest are more flavoursome.
There are others the Desi or Bengali which are a lot smaller and not white like Kabuli.

Oh, this is interesting! I never considered how they vary depending on where you are.
It depends on who buys them to what you grow to some degree - its easier to grow Desi chickpeas but Kabuli can be worth four times more if the size is extra large but they dont always yield enough to make up the difference
India buys Desi with a premium market for Kabuli .
we used to eat them green straight of the plant - like a sweeter peanut is the closest likeness I can think of.( we grew peanuts too )
Wiki sort of explains the difference in types

They are very nice when you eat them fresh from the plant.. first time I tried them green was in hampi India. Sometimes I wonder why there not sold in supermarkets all over the world...
As its winter here we have a lot of soups , my favourite would be Kabuli chickpea , Black Eye Peas and Adzuki beans, Pearl Barley some veg. and chicken stock.
You should checkout Steele's posts, he put a interesting beetroot hummus recipe on there a while back
Sorry steelad not Steele, damn predictive text 😠
Good afternoon
Most of the time I buy chickpeas from the canned food section but you can also buy dried ones which are normally kept where all the pulses are
I do love Chickpeas - one of my favourites : >
Canned vegetables isle. Usually with beans such as kidney, black bean, etc.
All the main supermarkets sell hummus, hommos, hommous (loads of different spellings) either in cans as chick peas or in plastic containers ready prepared. Many variants, but
general link to pictures of hommous.
I like hummus most when I cook the chickpeas and make it.
