Cooking or feeding for one

I live alone and find it dillemm to cook for one person. I usually cook too much food and sick of it after a second helping. I either waste it or eat it and then I have eaten too much.

It's about Cooking for Singles, and has a few suggestions.

I sometimes batch cook and freeze the meals - especially soup, but you could do that with lots of meals - then it's just a matter of de-frosting for when you fancy a particular meal.

Hi, how about making something like a bolognaise sauce to have with pasta one day and turn any bolognaise sauce into shepherds pie the next day? When you do a stir fry you could take half the vegetables out and make it into curry the next day or a chilli with baked potato. I think this is what I would do as then they are intentionally left over as I’m not good with left overs or eating food that has been frozen. That said I have heard if you roast vegetables, courgette, peppers, aubergine, onions etc they are much nicer if you re roast them from frozen and could be used for a vegetable lasagne or with cous cous? Ali 🙂🌱

These sound like really great ideas! I had pasta for dinner a few nights ago and added some leftover vegetables and tomato sauce. Really good! :-)

I only cook for one and use a mixture of different things to ensure i don't get fed up of the same meals or waste meals.

If i make a big curry / soup / stew etc i will always eat a couple of portions then freeze a couple of portions. This way it keeps it cheaper and i don't waste anything.

I'll also turn one meal into another - so as mentioned above - a bolognese can be turned into a shepherds pie or even a chilli.

I'll use certain things for lunches and have smaller portions rather than it for dinner 2 nights running.

I'll menu plan so if i'm doing a supermarket shop i'm only buying what i need and have an idea of how i'm going to use everything up.

That's me, I buy bulk meat you can either cook it All freeze individual portions or freeze portion sizes, take out what is needed. Just make your side make sure to date your portions what's inside, I made that mistake frozen chicken and pork look the same frozen.
