My husband has advanced prostate cancer. Has anyone had results from eating a plant based diet?

Foods that fight cancer
iv heard tomatoes are great but best to investigate yourself.
Both cooked tomatoes and cruciferous vegetables -- broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage -- have been shown to help prevent cancer, especially prostate cancer. Now, research suggests that eating tomatoes and broccoli together has even more potent health effects.25 Apr 2007
Tomato and Broccoli: 2 Antioxidant Power Blasts - WebMD
Hi 55Chevy
Welcome to the Healthy eating forum. I wondered if you would find either of these articles of interest:
The first is from Healthline and is about 'Foods for Prostate Health'
healthline.com/health/prost...
The second is a medically reviewed article from Web MD entitled "Is there a Prostate Cancer Diet?"
webmd.com/prostate-cancer/f...
Zest
There are a couple of articles on Dr Gregors site:
nutritionfacts.org/video/tr...
And Dr Ornish on his study (which Gregor refers to)
I feel for you and your husband 55Chevy Diet should be loads of greenery, fruit, veg. avoid synthetic sugars/margarine etc and sweeten with raw sugar where possible. Also, have a look at LDN Research Trust. Good stuff.
Do you have a reference for that claim from sloan-kettering - preferably one published in a reputable peer-reviewed journal?
Your claim that sugar feeds cancer sounds an awful like myth #4 mentioned here
scienceblog.cancerresearchu...
And this 2016 article from sloan-kettering does not support your claim:
I'm sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. I hope the doctors are giving some guidance on treatment.
It's not something I have experience of, and it's important that you don't take our advice over that of a qualified medical professional.
The one common theme I notice from all those who say diet helped their cancer, is that they follow a very nutrient dense diet. If you choose to go plant based, it's important to eat a wide variety of vegetables to pack in as many nutrients as you can.
I've heard positive things about juicing, as it gets a lot of nutrients in one hit. I would avoid processed foods if you can.
This video is from an experienced vegan doctor in Ohio who researches a lot of alternative solutions (not necessarily instead of traditional medicine). She has many similar videos too: youtu.be/TRbIn5qL-_k
Spot on: ". . . combining best of all worlds . . ." 👍👍

Aside:
Don’t know if Kris Carr’s ( en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kri... ) perspective ( google.com/search?as_q=%22K... , m.youtube.com/user/KrisCarr... ) might interest you & your beloved, 55Chevy ? 🤔
She’s a young woman living with Stage IV cancer (epithelioid hemangioendothelioma) affecting liver & lungs. [I’d heard her speak via a John & Ocean Robbins ‘Food Summit’: healthunlocked.com/nras/pos.... .]
Maybe what Kris has to say about how she lives with & manages cancer, might interest your beloved? 🤔
(Yes, a female 👩 perspective, yet her attitude/ approach may be encouraging & well received by a male 👱♂️ with prostate cancer? 🤔 . . . Merely a thought 💭 .)
.
Very best wishes to you & your husband, 55Chevy. 😌 🙏 🍀 🌺 🌞

Oh . . . the Dr. Michael Gregor & Dr. Dean Ornish references above from benwl are reliable resources (in my layman’s opinion) worth researching. 😌 👍👍

That's a 32 min video - not research published in a peer viewed journal. And its contradicted by the 2016 piece from them mskcc.org/blog/no-sugar-no-...
"All carbohydrate is turned to glucose in the body, not just sugar." Um, and your point is what exactly?
