Once in a while, I'm alright with a meal that makes me sleepy, but if it's happening daily, I know I'm eating the wrong foods...

Is it something you suffer from daily?

It is a warning sign - one is suffering from insulin resistance and/or reactive hypoglycemia which may lead to diabetes in future. However, it can be prevented by suitable dietary intervention.

First of all, you should get your blood sugar tested.

Review your diet and cut down carb intake.

Lose some body weight, if overweight.

As for your question about the type of foods, did you talk to your doctor about your diet change?

I get really tired after eating. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat. I have tried to research this problem on the internet but have not been lucky to find a solution. It is very disturbing that I have to take a nap after eating. I've thought about doing some sort of exercise, but so far I just take a nap!

Previously I did not know about bad carbs, ie refined. Add to those the fat they are usually loaded with and I lived a life of over 60 years food induced coma. A glass of wine or beer, an evening meal and I would fall asleep almost daily. Now I stuff myself full of bowl after bowl of complex carbs without oils and only once in a blue moon will my brain feel sleepy. Now I get so much enjoyment from being wide awake after a heavy meal.

Today is Christmas and I have just eaten two large full plates of nut roast, gravy, sprouts parsnips carrots potatoes with some prosecco and I have lots of energy. Certainly no sleepiness!

Hello Enky. When your BG is on the high side you can feel tired or clogged up. Its not a particular nice feeling & going for a walk after your tea helps. Good luck
