Bad diet, no excercise for a year
Can you describe your diet?
I am scared I could have type 2 diabetes. My diet isnt consistent . I try to eat oatmeal, frosted flakes, bagels, egg for breakfast.
Lunch is just about anything that tastes good. Chicken, rice, bread.
Dinner is same as lunch, except i chew on chips throughout the day and i eat candy (chocolate, jolly ranchers) a lot.
My advice to you and anyone who can't' seem to control their diet is to go to youtube and search for "pleasure trap". It's about a book 2 guys wrote explaining how to break free of it. Watch the first 2 videos that come up. They're vegans, but you don't have to become a vegan to benefit from their insights. Good luck!
PS the second video is over an hour long. If you want to skip to the good stuff, you can jump to 34:00 without missing much.
Frosted flakes, bagels, eggs... The bread I assume is not wholemeal... Chips, candy... These are poor choices and they could lead to diabetes if not other health issues like high blood pressure.
You musty start thinking about the foods you are eating. Bagels are generally made with poor quality refined flours with added salt and sugar. Add to these your chicken and you are heading for high blood pressure. Add chips which are the poorest choice of potato possible since they are loaded with fats.
Wholefoods are foods with minimal processing. When buying bread move towards wholewheat breads. The body digests these slowly giving you energy for a longer time through the day so you won't feel so hungry. Oats rather than oatmeal again, because of minimal processing in the factory, gives the body more work to do to access the useful nutrients, thus slowing down sugar absorption.
Chewing on chips is a worthless exercise. Get a whole potato and microwave it and eat it without fats - no butter, no cheese. Try doing the same with a sweet potato.
Get some fresh blueberries into your breakfast - daily. Blueberries have a really positive effect on blood sugar levels. So these are a must! Frozen blueberries are a good alternative.
Getting some dark leafy greens into your diet as part of your daily lunch. Eat these first. Start off with a couple of leaves and promise yourself to increase the quantity each day. I eat a whole bag of salad on most days. These are stuffed full of healthy nutrients.
Thank you.

Well, cut out the crap and exercise, easy really
Not really. I have an addiction to sweets
By realizing that you're addicted to sweets, you've started down the road to recovery. Realize now that almost everyone around you is also addicted. I became aware of this sad fact about a year ago, and my life and health have changed tremendously because of it. Because almost our entire western culture is engaged in the self-deception that everything is OK, it won't be easy for you to break free and to get back to whole, natural, real foods, but it CAN be done. With help, I did it, and believe me - it's worth it!
These two videos by the two authors of "The Pleasure Trap" describe exactly how we got trapped, what you can do to get out of it, and enjoy the life you were meant to live. You don't need to buy their book or go to their clinic. They push the vegan diet, but you don't even have to do that. Just use the information in the videos to get back to nature - no added refined sugar, no refined oils, and greatly reduce salt. Your taste buds and even your entire body will adjust and you'll enjoy healthy foods again!!
