Is there an optimal diet for humans?
Great article, thanks for posting
Hi trpp
I think this is a very interesting article, and many thanks for posting it.
Welcome to the Healthy eating community.

Lots in this review of hunter gatherer research. Did I see 65% carb intake?
Good stuff. It drives me nuts when I see nutritionists spelling out precise macronutrient combinations as "optimal". It's clearly rubbish, since there are healthy humans across the entire globe eating vastly different diets.
As far as I can tell, there's only one diet that makes you fat and ill, and it's the one nutritionists recommend: mountains of carbs; no fat; manufactured food substitutes.
My personal opinion is that we should be eating whatever our region naturally provides, and this will vary seasonally. Here again, the idea that we should all be eating exactly the same macronutrients day in, day out, forever, is ridiculous. Norwegians or Indonesians could only eat a "Healthy Mediterranean Diet" with massive food imports ... and why would they want to eat like that anyway? Their own climates, by all accounts, produced everything they needed for however many millennia.
