Last night I went to a free public lecture at our local hospital by cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Nikki Stamp. She is an amazing woman who, as well as saving lives, is an author, public speaker and TV presenter. Her book “Can you die of a broken heart?” is well worth a read.

Statistics show that 80% of heart disease is preventable. Her challenge to the audience: “Make my job redundant! Take care of your hearts, your health and each other.”

I loved this slide and it is how I like to eat - Mediterranean diet - lots of fruit and veggies, nuts, seeds, good fats (avocado, EVOO), fish. I was happy to hear her say “a little bit of dark chocolate is okay too” 😃

Hi Kaz747

That's great that you were able to attend that lecture - and I really love that slide - showing all those delicious and healthy foods. I think the Mediterranean diet is brilliant.

I like her advice to "Take care of your hearts, your health and each other".
