Good morning everyone,
Most people are aware of type 2 diabetes which has links to obesity and a genetic disposition.
But what about type 1 which's believed to be caused by the immune system wrongly attacking the pancreas where insulin is produced. So it's an autoimmune disease and this is a hard one when our own immune system attacks our vital organs.
The same is true of coeliac whose intestinal villi is wrongly attacked by our own immune system triggered by the ingestion of gluten.
I wish that I wasn't a coeliac but compared to T1D and other health issues I'd rather have CD as its 100% treatable by diet, it also gives us the opportunity for a very healthy diet free of highly processed foods.
So as its Diabetes awareness month here's a link to JDRF T1D awareness campaign with valuable advice on controlling blood sugar levels and living with T1D:

For those of you who don't have an autoimmune disease you're the lucky ones so appreciate what a gift that is...
If anyone would like to share their story of living with T1D then please do as I think it must be scary.
