Hi there, I've used loop systems in group situations for deaf members and they're very effective.

Here's a link about GP'S and BSL.

Stating the obvious forums like this are great for our deaf friends/members so well done for joining us and I see that you've lost a lot of weight so good for you and you're in great company for all things healthy eating and exercise.

It must be very hard being deaf so I wish you well.

Jerry 😊

Thank you Jerry you are right this is an ideal format for me as groups are hard and I don’t get the information.... it’s confusing enough as it is ...lol

Hi Was-me

I don't have any experience of support groups for Deaf, but here in Guernsey, I am aware that the GP Surgeries are all connected to Loop Systems - or at least the GP practice I attend is.

Welcome to the Healthy eating forum, and I hope you'll enjoy participating here. We have lots of Pinned posts and Topics to look at, and people post regularly.

Thank you unfortunately our GP operate a phone for appointments system and no loop in consultation room one on reception though sometimes it’s turned on even .

That must be incredibly difficult. I've seen the loop system at the reception point in the surgery, but I have no idea what other facilities they have for deaf access, i.e. whether they are also in the consulting rooms or not, and it doesn't sound good that your surgery don't always turn it on!

Do the doctors have translators for sign language you can ask for during appointments?

These need to be booked and can cost £90 an hr

What does that convert to in USD$?
