Calling All Readers!

This is our September 2020 Reading Rabbits Book Posting. You can post your comments and suggestions about any book/magazine/newspaper that does/doesn't have to do with any medical issues on this posting. You can mention about your favorite authors, as well. This posting will be pinned to the Pinned Posts for easier access.

Here is an update on how β€œThe Sea Is My Brother: The Lost Novel”, by Jack Kerouac has been going so far.

On Friday, 8-7-2020, I did some reading and I have started β€œPart 2: Early Writings”. That’s on page 149.

So far, Bill and Wesley are on the ship. At one point, Bill couldn’t figure out where Wesley had gone since he couldn’t find him anywhere. It turned out, Wesley was off the ship at a bar/pub and went with his wife. Unfortunately, Wesley got really drunk and everyone on the ship that Bill talked to about where Wesley had gone couldn’t say that they saw him, either. Eventually, after letting the beers ware off, Wesley did come back to the ship and Bill gave him a letter/note from another Seaman saying it was for Wesley. The note was from his wife.

The next part is dealing with Jack Kerouac's personal journal he wants to write in College. That is very interesting and has some short version stories/poems. Right now, I'm on page 176.

Well, we’ll see how the rest of the story goes very soon. Happy Reading! Stay safe, healthy and happy! :-) Can't wait to hear about what you're reading this month. :-)

Hi Leah, you are near the end and this is a lovely part of The sea is my brother with Bill on his first ship and Wesley off with his wife.

You enjoy reading and stay safe and well now. 🌈😊

Started a book today called little boy blue by Edward bunker that I bought in Cheltenham back in 2018 but didn't get round to reading it until now.

This sounds interesting. How far have you gotten into the story so far?

Good morning Leah,

Your book sounds very interesting. I have just finished The strangers wife by Anna-Lou Weatherley - it was absolutely gripping right from the start - The story starts off with Beth a former nurse and her wealthy husband Evan - they have a little girl, so Beth gave up work to look after her, they had a young Nanny who was really close to Beth, The Nanny is missing, her car is still in the drive and her coat and purse still in the house, her scarf was found in the back garden where they were having a swimming pool put it, a few items of clothings were missing, making it look like she may have left in a hurry.

Beth has been having an affair with a gardener and tells Evan that she would like a divorce, he doesn't really react and Beth moves out, but in the story you find out that no one leaves Evan and gets away with it.

There is also another couple - Sol and Cath, it turns out Cath looks just like Beth - the only difference being that one of them is left handed (this is there downfall later on) Sol is a violent drug taker, who had complete control over Cath, she was heavily pregnant when she got a beating from Sol, which sadly resulted in Cath losing her son and consequently not being able to have children, Caths drunken neighbour throws her a life line and tells her to go to Bristol to stay with a friend of hers, Cath does this but Sol tracks her down, my threatening there drunken neighbour.

It transpires that Evan is a physcopath - He breaks into Beths new lovers office and plants indecent images on his computer and he bribes his and Beths 6 year old daughter to say that Beths new lover is behaving inappropriately, despite none of it being true the little girl is send to live back with Evan (her dad) while Beths new lover (whose name escapes me) ends up losing his business and gets killed, Evan claims it was an accident.

Beth starts to do some digging off her own, she finds out that Evan has being lying about his Mother being dead, she goes to the nursing home to see Rose, she told Beth that Evan never forgave her for leaving the family home when he was younger - she left due to domestic violence, She got in contact with Evan as soon as it was safe, he came to her home and pushed her down the stairs leaving her paralyised, she spent the rest of her life in the care home. The care home was in Bristol and that is where Beth meets Cath on the train home.

Cath comes back home and finds that Sol is in hospital, so out of his face he fell down some stairs and is in hospital with a broken leg, he tells Cath when he gets out he is going to get even with her for leaving, she goes home to there bedsit, while tidying up she finds a gun under their bed. Cath and Beth had made a plan on how to kill there partners - Cath injects Sol while he is off his face, so it first appears that it was an accidental overdose, whereas Beth uses the gun from under Caths Bed so shot Evan.

It was excellent

Best wishes

Debs

Wow! This could be used under mystery or romance. Very interesting! :-) It reminds me of a episode from one of the mystery shows that was on years ago (can't think of the name). Is it hardback or paperback?

I am reading The Wrong Girl by Laura Wilson, I am enjoying it, but it is hard to keep the story straight, I will persevere and let you know when I finish.
