Hey, I wouldn't beat yourself up over wanting to eat fast food once or twice a month because at the end of the month you've literally been losing 5Kg.

The secret is moderation and maybe when you've reached your target weight you will find you don't crave fast foods anymore, as many of us find foods we used to like too sweet or salty.

Thats what I think JaffarMohammed.

It sounds to me like your diet is working, so surely the answer is "no, it's not bad for you" :)

Having said that, a good diet should dramatically reduce your desire for horrible food. If it doesn't, you might need to tweak it a bit. For example, if your diet is heavily fat-restricted, that will cause you to crave fat (because it's a critical nutrient) and your natural response will be to find a convenient source of it.

I suppose what's more important is this: is the frequency of your fast-food attacks decreasing or increasing?

Hi JaffarMohammed

Wow, I think it's fantastic that you've lost 20kg since starting your diet, and Congratulations! It's working for you - to have some 'Fastfood' once a month and sometimes twice a month, so sounds like you've got a healthy balance overall - that's for sure!

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Zest :-)

Congratulations on losing 20kg!! That's really awesome and I'm sure you are working hard for it. I don't think it's "bad" to eat fast food 1-2 times per month but honestly, if you're eating it that infrequently, then perhaps you can stop all together at some point. I think that the more weight you lose and the healthier you feel, you will you won't want fast food anymore. My eating has evolved over the years. I've educated myself tremendously about food and the food industry, and as a result there are so many things I will not put in my body anymore because all I see is disease attached to it. If you continue to have the fast food, then just enjoy it. You don't have to be that hard on yourself! My weakness is potato chips😉

Nutritionally fast food is probably bad for you... but if it makes you happy and you can keep it in moderation, i.e once or twice per month, overal it might actually be good for you, at least in the short-medium term as it can be a reward/incentive to do well, keep losing weight throughout the rest of the month, etc and such a reward may even provide a boost to mental health.

As I understand it as long as you're maintaining a calorie defecit, you will lose weight regardless of what sorts of foods you eat.
