Atorvastatin: Very confused. .given these... - Healthy Eating
Atorvastatin
Hi..HbA1C. .is blood test given to t2. Told diabetic consultants like cholesterol to below 4.
I'm T2 on Simvastatin and have no problems and my cholesterol is now in the normal range. As you were having side effects with Atorvastatin then you should ask your GP to change it and see if a different one makes any difference to side effects. They may say carry on with diet if you can get it down that way but eventually you may well have to go back on them.
Hi Mapla70
Could you please clarify as to whats LCBT diet.....?
Statins are anyways prescribed to all diabetics. Diabetics are considered high risk individuals.
As per ADA guidelines,.. "All diabetics above the age of 40 has to be put on a Statin irrespective of the LDL levels"
Hence all Drs are bound to Rx in all diabetics to follow the guidelines issued.
Its a different story that i personally dont subscribe to this thought or Guidelines.
The entire "Cholesterol" theory is a pharma driven one.
Elevated LDL is more of an indicative or repairing factor. If elevated then need to alter the diet.
Eliminate sugars. refined carbs & junk seed oils.
Add up fresh non starchy cooked veggies & small serving of fruits.
Add up beneficial fats like butter, avocado, animal fats, ghee etc
Stop all packaged stuff & have fresh home made foods.
Thank you..hav you medically knowledge to say all diabetes require statins?
So confusing so many fors as against statins.
Need clarification🤔
Nobody here is medically trained as far as I know and there are as many opinions about statins amongst non-medical people as there are research studies that show the cases for and against them. Personally, I have no problem with them as I have no side effects and as most research ends up contradicting things, one way or another, within weeks of publishing information, then you just need to go with what you belive is right for you or what your doctor says.

Let's know your profile and diet.
I have been grainfree and on very low carb high good fat diet for more than 10 months. I'm also statinfree for 10 months. Lipid profile very good. The key is carbs as low and good fats as high as possible. All the doctors would scare you against fats but good fats are far better.
