Hello wennafromwales, the first thing I'd say is not to get too worried about that cholesterol level, it may be that is right for you. Neither your doctor nor anyone else knows what you cholesterol level ought to be, everyone is different. Cholesterol is an important component of the blood acting as a repair mechanism on the site of any injury. Rather than go into a long description I would recommend that you read what a heart surgeon says when he admits to having been wrong over 25 years. Go to: healthscams.org.uk/heart-su....
Frankly I don't think you need help but just to be recommended to eat a wide rangle of wholefoods and certainly stay away from the polyunsaturated fats and oils, avoid them like the plague. Saturated fats are an important part of our diet; have a look at: healthscams.org.uk/saturate...
By the way I wouldn't go within 100 miles of Statins and told my doctor so when I met her for the first time; she didn't reply! I wonder why?
Best of luck. Tibbly
I am 81. Am on warfarin and metformin. I do not want to go on statins that is why I am desperate to get my Cholesterol level down. Thanks for your info. I do enjoy mature cheese and chocolate but have cut those out completely. I have my 5/6 fruit/ veg 6 days out of 7. Enjoy wholemeal bread and eat more chicken and fish than red meats. BUT.....
Why do you want to reduce your cholesterol? Who told you it was too high? How do they know? The truth is they don't know what is right for you. It can even be dangerous to reduce your level because it is an important repair material. Do read what Dwight Lundel says; he's the heart surgeon. Tibbly
