Is there such a thing as 'Healthy Eating made easy (for singletons)'

I have a heart problem (atrial fibrillation) & diet-controlled Type 2 diabetes. I NEVER add salt to meals but am aware that I do consume too much sugary food!

As long as you are eating a healthy diet with as few processed foods you will be fine. I'm a T2 diabetic and eat lower carbs, I can't go high fat because of other issues. I attended a refresher day for the Diabetes course xperthealth.org who are working with Diabetes UK. They went through the lchf principles because they do feel it's one of the way forward but made it clear that 130g of carbs is the recommended, to go too low, as some do, isnt. They also said everything in moderation and keep active.

As you have other issues always speak to your GP.

Welcome to the AF club, fun, isn't it (not)... I hope you're also on the AF forum, as Bigleg says? I find the dietdoctor website useful for recipes, and suggest trying Amazon, put in 'healthy recipes for one', there are all sorts of interesting recipe books that pop up!

Hi Howie,

I stick to eating clean food, & make veggie soups in large batches between September & April. I try to eat as much organic as possible, especially dairy foods, & anything I'm going to eat whole. I use low salt stock as I add nutritional yeast for vitamins, or a little himalayan salt for the minerals.

Once or twice a week, I make kefir which is high in B12 & a good probiotic.

I also eat a lot of nuts & fruit, & keep them on my kitchen table, so it's the easiest option to eat something that's good for me. If I have sugar cravings, I'll eat a date as they're high in magnesium that helps curb cravings, as does natural liquorice. A piece of 70%or 85% cocoa chocolate works well, too.

I always carry a tub of nuts, seeds, & dried fruit, & raw food bars in my bag, to avoid temptation when I'm out.

Thanks for that, Smiley! I'll check it out ASAP. There's no doubt that 'pharm' med's can make one worse as they virtually all have 'intereactions'.

Eg there's 2 pills I take to counteract a side effect of 'bioprolol'
