Hi realuv50,

Did you lost a lot of weight before getting diagnosed? If yes, how long ago was it and how is your blood glucose(sugar) control now? I ask that because uncontrolled (high) blood glucose causes weight loss as the body gets rid of glucose through urine (that is why one of the symptoms of diabetes is to pee a lot!).

So if you are still at he start of your treatment, simply getting it right can help you recover the weight you lost! Insulin is what opens your cells to glucose, so if that is not happening the sugar you eat is not going to get used or stored. For this reason, the first thing is really making sure your are getting properly treated for your diabetes.

Apart from that, you can focus on eating highly caloric foods that are not rich in simple carbs (wont mess with you blood sugar levels), eating more frequently (easier to get more calories) and exercising more (stimulate muscle growth and helps glucose to enter cells).

Foods not rich in simple sugars that the ones that have low glycemic index (measurement that determines how quickly a food breaks down into sugar). The higher the number, the quicker it turns to sugar. Proteins and whole grains have a lower glycemic index, for example.

Here is a basic list of foods and their glycemic index & glycemic load (how quickly a SERVING of food breaks down into sugar) of foods: health.harvard.edu/newsweek... Aim for the lower numbers and bon appetit!

Have to admit, low sugar high fat diets really do take all those peaks and troughs out of your blood sugar levels. I'm not diabetic (yet) but my body does seem to be having some issue with sugar and this diet has really helped. Always check with your doctor, though. There could be other reasons this diet might not be suitable.

So true divided! If realuv50 is injecting insulin, for example, going to a low carb diet without discussing it with a doctor can be dangerous...

My mom is in her seventees and has reversed her diabetes to the point she's taking half of the smallest dose of tablet in the morning no injections after meals. she had a really helpful diabetic nurse and uses foods to lower her type 2 insulin resistance. She is also working on her bp. So if she can do it at her age anyone can try. She was lucky to have that nurse who understood what she was doing. Sje was Indian so knew the foods they use in India for it like bitter me on etc. She also lost weight but muscle weight when she was I'll..she still had s fat old tummy but her little legs were like a bird. Now she has managed her diet he weight has come back on and she doesn't do any weight lifting ..its just what happens with diabetes you waste away and when the diabetes gets better the weight and muscle and other things get better too. It just takes time. You can't put good weight on without time. I'd say it took my mom a few years to waste away and took her a year ti gain it back. I'm very proud of her. I say as I eat a bag of squashies. Lol. 😅🤣 I'm not diabetic either but I seem to be asking for it today!

I don't think you understand ,she's diabetic. She's not putting on weight for the funsies. She has lost weight from her illness.

I don't know either ...I just realised this too... I don't think I'm in the news feed bit I've clicked into somewhere else lol! Sorry about that. How did putting the weight on go? My mom also struggled but is looking like herself again now. Hope you are well!

I think I've been going to the bottom where eit says next post and that's how I ended up going back in time.. Lol!

Its demonstrably not a toxin to most people who eat it in moderation. It downregualtes to get as many animals to eat its fruit to pass its seed as far as possibly while its in fruiting season. And probably the humans who didn't get down regulated got sick of the taste of plums before the season ended. while the ones who ate the whole plum tree has the scutters but also the strength to outrun Darwin. Fruit is demonstrably fine to eat.
