Can a severe dental injury stimulate a psychotic episode?
Hi Humankind-BE_BOTH,
I really have no idea but I think any severe injury can start PTSD.
I don't know anything about psychosis but I hope you can talk to a trusted therapist or a medical professional who has empathy.
There are also some hotlines in our pinned posts section to call, listed alphabetically by country.
Hope you are okay.
I have no links but i know neck and head injuries can lead to episodes and dental injuries can connect to the neck
Hi I wouldn’t have thought so unless you have had them before. I think you should try some of the other groups maybe they would be able to advice you more. This is a group for PTSD. Take care. X
Would it be resulting from the pain and trauma of the injury itself, or from any change in your appearance it may have created?
You may know that some people (like me perhaps) believe that post-traumatic dental-care anxiety (PTDA) should be brought under the umbrella of PTSD where it belongs.
If the "injury" was unnecessary pain at the dentist's, then you may want to look at links between torture and mental health.
Are you sure you are talking about psychosis? Paranoia might well be caused by fear, but there's paranoia as a character problem (neurosis?) and paranoia as the second stage of schizophrenia.
