THE STAFF AT NEWCASTLE STATION WERE VERY HELPFUL BOTH AT THE TICKET OFFICE AND IN BOARDING THE TRAIN .

I have tried using buses but find being in a confined space within the bus and people moving it is very hard for me to judge and keep my balance. I did have a very kind bus driver once who; when everyone went to dash off the bus when it stopped, closed the doors and told everyone to get back in their seats and allow the disabled man to get off first.

I was very touched by his consideration, but wished the earth would swallow me up as I walked past all the disgruntled passengers who had been made to wait for me.

Just goes to show there are good people around

I TOO HAVE A BALANCE PROBLEM BUT IN NEWCASTLE WE HAVE A SCHEME CALLED THE BRIDGES CARD WHICH YOU SHOW TO THE BUS DRIVER WHEN YOU SHOW YOUR PASS THIS LETS THE DRIVER KNOW THAT YOU NEED TIME TO GET TO YOUR SEATAND WHEN REQUIRED MOST DRIVERS WILL ASK PEOPLE TO VACATE FRONT SEATS TO LET PEOPLE WITH [ROBLEMS SIT DOWN.

i would hate to have to use public transport in my wheelchair

i was a bus driver for a few years and drivers barely have time to get round their route normally and have to drive like maniacs to keep time or drive normally and run late and then get abuse from passengers for being late.

not only that but i dont have brakes on my outdoor chair so could get interesting on a bus lol :)

here my chair after the bulldog bash 2 yrs ago
