the past 6 months my sight has gone from long sighted to shortsighted, this has changed several times usual getting worse, reading part also has needed changing in my glasses once , weak eye muscles has also happened and my astigmatism has altered .. I’ve had 5 pair of glasses and waiting for another pair . Specsavers have been amazing and are seeing me sometimes 2 weeks , or 4 weeks apart .. eye hospital has seen me twice saying that it can’t happen and could be the beginning of cataract . Neither applicable . Non diabetic and blood pressure fine .. what ing to see the eye hospital Dr again on fri … please has anyone had anything like this happen ??? I do also have balance problems which I am seeing a physio for but the eyes shattered going strange before I started doing exercises for my balance .. Sue 🤔

Hi Sue. I haven't had the extremes you're reporting. But my vision is definitely deteriorating as I get older and I get 'blind spots' now where it takes a couple of seconds (but feels like ages to me) to refocus, even with glasses on. I'm sure I didn't have this when I was younger. Hard to tell if its just the natural aging process or if there's something else going on. I have always had astigmatism as well.

Thank you for your reply .. 😁 no one seems to have a clue what’s happening to my sight so thought I’d ask on here to see if anyone else is or has experienced something similar .. Sue

Yes I really hope you get some answers soon. Its so frustrating how little is still known about head injuries.

lots of things have developed in head injury rehab but not many actually understand or use it .. very scary how slow the process has been in using new development techniques and we are unfortunately on the receiving end of this .. one day it will move forward … Sue

My eyesight changed immediately following my head injury - my astigmatism had totally changed. They told me it had nothing to do with the head injury. Yet a few months later it returned to normal. As I wasn't driving or reading or watching television I never bothered to get the prescription changed and now my old glasses are fine!

With regards to the balance exercises, keep them up. At first they made me feel very unwell, but I persisted. I look back on things now and I can't believe how awful my balance was - I couldn't walk in a straight line. A lot of my problems were due to eye tracking, and the exercises were very hard. Don't over do them!

Good luck

Gayle

Thank you Gayle .. my sight was fine and started changing 3.5 years past accident so might have nothing to do with the brain damage .. but at the mo they can find no reason for it changing very fast .. 🤔 yeah the balance exercises had started to get easier then I did the online harder ones and over did it to the point I’ve been very strange .. taking some time out and now started to do the easiest ones again today .. got to keep going even after few set backs ..Sue
