We are sailing, we are sailing...well, I am anyway :).

Hey there folks, hope you are well.

As you can see in the picture, my glasses are attached to a cord. It reminds me of "Murder she wrote" or something like that.

Usually I do not wear a cord because I don't need a cord.

Tomorrow I am going on a sailing trip that was set up by my local Headway group. They were in talks with the Jubilee Sailing Trust and have got some service users, including myself, to go along on this trip.

I have been given info on what clothing I should wear and such and also to wear a cord as I wear glasses. Just in case they get blown off I should imagine.

I have been told to wear a hat or sun screen to protect me from the sun.

Well, I am definitely not going to put on sun screen, sun block, suntan lotion because that can do more damage to your skin.

I want my skin to soak up those healthy rays given off by the sun and instead, I shall wear a hat... A pirates hat to be exact :).

You read that right... And I have a bandana and eye patch to go with it :).

Aaarrrgh, me hearties!

Ah yes, I forgot that bit haha.

We are boarding the ship at Southampton docks and we are sailing around that sort of area I think, maybe along the south coast?

Wow. Sounds like you are going to have an enjoyable time! Me I'd probably be sea sick!

When I was first told about this trip, it sounded like it was going to be me and another friend from Headway going and maybe a few of the Jubilee sailing crew.

I thought it might be an alright kind of day out on a boat.

But this week I found out more about the trip. The kind of boat/ship we were going on, there are more service users going and more Jubilee crew than I thought as well.

Plus it sounds like we are getting a lot to eat as well.

I read in their brochure yesterday that they do holidays as well. There was one: Southampton to Lisbon and back in 15 days.

I,m not a massive fan of sailing but I have been sailing a few times and thankfully I do not get sea sickness :).

Enjoy your adventure and follow the X when you get to Treasure Island !

It's gala day where I live- have just watched the procession , yes, there was a pirate float ! and I'm off to see the stalls with my pieces of eight ! Live music later too : )

Will be taking my waterproof though-looks like a storm brewing here.

Hope the weather is kind for tomorrow !

Can we expect a pic ?

Thanks Angela :).

I hope the weather is nice tomorrow too. I did here at the begining of the week that the weather would be rubbish tomorrow :(. I hope that is not the case though.

Enjoy your day Captain Pugwash !

Do remember that the suns rays bounce of the water giving it more intensity and you can burn more - especially if there is a wind blowing !

If you don't want to use sun cream - do keep yourself covered up as there is nothing worse than heat stroke !

Cotton scarf to protect back of your kneck . Hat and long sleeved t shirt !

You can get ' green ' sun creams - remember that skin cancer is on the increase in this country !

Vit D from the sunshine will do you the world of good !

Enjoy your lovely sail !

Thanks writer and thank you for looking out for me and the sunshine.

I am more conerned now about the products we use and the food that we eat because of dangerous chemicals in them.

I have read things that suntan lotion is actually the cause of skin cancer. Might be hard to swallow for some but I could understand it. Research it.

What about the civilians in countries closer to the equator such as Peru, Venezuela etc... It is hot and bright almost every day.

When I get home I will put on some Aloe Vera.

Sail away !

Lavera and Green People do organic sunscreen in this country !

Anchors away ! X

Eugene,

Crabs can swim silly...

;)

Matt2584 in reply to Broken_Doll

Of course they can. Why didn't I think of that :).

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to Broken_Doll

Thinking about that though, can they actually swim or do they just strategically walk sideways while holding their breath? :).

I have never seen a crab do the breast stroke :).

Thankfully I was not bad so I did not have to walk the plank but I don't know what to think about my shipmates though :), kidding.

And today, I was known as Matt Sparrow :).

Strings on glasses...two words....Michael Macantyre. I can now never wear em again

sounds like fun, since the damage to my balance systems means I no longer get motion sickness, I rather like boat trips now.

Having damage to your balance has helped you in some ways! Kind of odd but that is good :).

It was a relaxing day out thanks :).

Thank you :). I had a great day and I am a bit worn out now after all that sea air :).

The weather was pretty good actually. At the begining of the week I heard the weather would be rubbish.

That was not quite right though.

It was pretty gloomy to start with and cool. A little later the sun came out and it got a little warmer. Then back to gloom and a bit of wind.

All in all though, not bad.
