13 years has gone by soo fast! It’s unbelievable that it was 13 years since I had a massive Brain Haemorrhage due to an AVM in my brainstem that changed my life, 13 years! Sometimes I try to think about or remember what I went through but the thing is, I don’t remember, at least don’t remember a lot of it… 4 month in Salford Royal hospital (not a single memory) 8 month in Trafford General (vague memories of this time) as always big thank you to the NHS for saving my life & rehabilitating me, from the ambulance crew to the Neuro surgeons to the canteen staff, they all played their part #LoveForNHS💙

13 Years!

Me too Wazza. I landed at Salford Royal in Dec 2011, also with a brain haemorrhage (SAH). It still warms my heart remembering the dedication and kindness of nurses, doctors, physio & other therapists.
And yes, the kitchen staff too ; they (somehow) remembered how we liked our tea and made the best apple crumble & custard !
Like you, I recall nothing of ICU and the recovery ward but have fond memories of the rehab ward and taking my first steps. I first (consciously) met my surgeon at my 3 month check-up ; a small, unremarkable looking man, but with life saving hands and a massive heart !
We need Starmer & co. to start restoring our NHS to it's former glory . . . . . . . . a.s.a.p.
Take care Wazza

Funny you should mention apple crumble & custard as my mam has been craving it the past 3/4 days and tonight I’ve ordered an apple crumble take away to celebrate 😂
Couldn’t agree more with the NHS needing fixing as it is beyond broken .. they can where ever possible save your life but that’s it .. . I’m not sure it can be fixed anymore but so nice to hear that you both have received good rehab in the past 😊Sue
It's a crime that highly trained, talented NHS staff are now so undervalued. This, considering their demanding work and long hours, has hints of modern day slavery.
Many ministers love to present themselves as 'From poor backgrounds' ; pity they haven't born in mind how crucial the NHS is to ordinary working folk.
I've waited 3+yrs for a knee replacement (and still waiting). In 2005 my mum waited a month . . . . .
Take care Sue. x
Occasionally you meet a consultant as I did this week regarding my sight and I was gobsmacked that he had knowledge of brain injuries and how this can effect sight .. it was so nice to come away from a hospital appointment feeling like I have been understood and Infact he knew all about it .. will keep working our way though this mayhem and hope you get your knee sorted soon .. have you asked if another hospital could do it quicker .. Sue
Yes definitely agree with you there Wazza. I think the NHS is wonderful. I don't think I would be here without them either.
