Has anyone had issues with their sight altering ? It is 3 years ago I had TBI and a recent MRI confirmed scarring on the brain which has helped me understand my difficulty cognitively but know my distance vision has altered suddenly as in road signs etc are a blur .. confirmed by specsavers that my sight is fluctuating as it has improved a little in the past week .. GP in no hurry to seee regarding blood sugars but I would like to know if anyone else has had eye sight issues 3 years past Brain injury ?? I’m very lost with little to no information /help on what is actually going on .. Sue 🥴

Hi, yes I have eye issues and opticians say nothing wrong with actual eye but I constantly need new glasses. You could think that shows there is donething wrong😀 eye movement desensitisation exercises are the best. Movement eyes round in circle clockwise and then anti clockwise, then left to right and reversal then up and down and reversal, then sane again keeping head still follow your finger doing the exercises and also add in moving your finger from nose to arms length. Pink vision exercises are also good. Sometimes your eye sight comes back to normal. It can also be BPPV (positional vertigo, I have just been diagnosed with this, it happens after head injury, your inner ear crystals move along the canal and this affects your eyes as well as they flicker ever do slightly that you font notice except fir the pain at the back of your eye. This us your eye muscles trying to keep balance with your ears as they all communicate with each other. The exercises are also called balance retraining. I have been referred to hospital to see audiology and they move the crystals by lying down and head hanging off bed. Then the worst bid is that you can't lie down for 48hrs then 1 week you can't bend down to tie shoes, or lie fiwn on that side😀 ask your doctor to refer you.

Thank you .. yes I have had the epley manoeuvre done a couple of times and hen my balance was totally gone even eyes visible shook to anyone looking at me .. I will have a go at the exercise … truthfully it’s freaked me out … 🥴 I have had one cheap pair of glasses for distance while driving but they’re not correct this week 😩 not buying anymore till a months time when I get the eyes tested again in options .. my balance isn’t good like when I’m in walking around I look at the floor I front of me as if anything is uneven I stumble .. thank you for your reply as GP and eye hospital didn’t want to know and say that this can’t happen over night … sue x

I never had the you can’t lay down for 48 hours or bend down to do your shoes .. but mine was only done by a GP as ENT wouldn’t touch me until neuro had given the all clear regarding brain bleeds … it took neurological 2 years to ring me 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴 hence the reason a GP did it .. omg I hate the state of of aNSH 😩

Oh sue, so sorry to hear. The GP do not know about the bending doen or lying down as mine did the same and the audiologist said if you do thoose instructions you are just undoing the whole thing as you should only do it on the side that has the bppv. GP tell you to do it on both sides.

I just went last week to st Ives (cornwal) and the noise of people talking in a pub had my ear drums throbbing me off balance as if I was at sea and I was touching the ground just to feel I was safe😀 then I felt sea sick 😫 . Not nice. I am slowly bring referred to some integrated care section😄 makes me sound like an old geriatric.

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling good, hope you get help soon. Xx

hi, suffered a TBI in 2000. Lost my driving license because of upper right hemanopia. Had very bad headaches as my brain rerouted itself, still suffer weird vision, struggle to read. Have to study a word so my neurons can make sense of words. Small price to pay as a result of very nearly death?!! Keep safe & learn to accept/ adapt to y new life?!

I’m just pleased to hear others sight was altering due to the balance issues .. this has crossed my mind and I has just flown so guessing that can alter your inner ear .. I can cope with wonky annoying eyes and having several pairs of glasses if they carry on being wonky .. it was losing to much sight , not being able to drive even though it’s only local as that has a huge impact on my very limited independence ( campared to the old me that is 😊) sue

Pinkvision's most recent post has a link to eye exercises with a step by step video.

My eyesight deteriorated badly a couple of years after my Bi ; I had cataract removal and laser treatment but my optician still fails to prescribe glasses which work for me. It's my near-sight which is affected ; long distance vision is good enough to pass driving standards.

I use the cheap DIY glasses for reading but waiting for a referral to the eye hospital rather than paying out for glasses which don't help. I've started with the exercises too.

Hope you find the solution Sue ; poor eyesight is a wretched problem..... Cat x

Hi Sue,

Have you seen a vestibular physiotherapist, or someone who can test you for nystagmus or nystagmus like symptoms?

The other option would be a neuro optometrist.

These two professions often have various equipment where they can test and measure what is going on and recommend exercises - not necessarily pleasant to do but they can help.

No one's vision is the same day to day, it fluctuates- we perhaps just tend to notice it more.

I’ve nave heard of the people you have just mentioned so will look them up .. thank you .. the only help so far I have had is from specsavers who have done two full eye tests in 10days as eye sight has gone from long sighted to short sighted and has changed twice in this time .. I do know that since my holiday I can’t read sign posts or number plates until they are up close and Tesco is a nightmare to read even the signs on the end of the rows .. 🥴🥴

7 years ago in january for me; I had a triple SAH. My nearsite is actually fluctuating as much as my (that used to be incredible) farsite varies enormously over the last 6 months. Also light conditions take a while to get used to and first thing after sleep my eyes take at least half an hour to clear. So...we are with yo.

I’m stuck between possibly from brain damage or diabetes ??? One day a Dr may actually see me to test my blood sugars 🤪 and the brain injury side of this guessing the neuropsychiatric that also waiting to see if my referral gets pick up or it back to Private again .. but the brain injury seems that a few people have had problems .. thank you for your reply hopefully your eyes have settled down now Sue. 😊
