I have had a bleed on the brain last April. I had approximately 8 lumber punctures. I had to learn to walk again after being in hospital for 5mths. I now have pain and weakness in my right leg. Has anybody else suffered with this. ?

Painful Legs

The worst I suffered from lumbar punctures was having to remain still, on my back, for 12 hours. Once over with, I did suffer back pain for a while, but no pain in legs.
What do your doctors say ? Could it be nerve damage ? Maybe a neuro-physio could help in locating the problem if you can get a referral (and tolerate the wait 🤨)
Hope you get it sorted m'dear... Cat. x
Thanks for your reply. I had an appointment at King's yesterday for a follow up. He is going to arrange a spinal scan for me see if nerve damage. Said not related to lumbar punctures. Marie x
Fingers crossed the results show something easily treatable Marie. Walking, pain free, is something most of us take for granted when all's well, but so liberating after a mobility issue -(hoping to get there myself soon after a 15month wait for surgery !)
...be interesting to hear of your scan results.🤔

Hey there!
Your post got my attention straight away as it’s so similar to my own experience Sig head injury 2018, cancelling out the Covid years it’s taken awhile as gp’s ruled out other issues with my legs but finally I got to the pain clinic and an amazing consultant has started me on a plan to treat nerve damage. I agree with everything Cat has said. It is DEFINITELY the first thing (if I was you )I would look into. My symptoms are leg weakness, pins and needles, jolts during the night and feeling like my feet are dead and an uncontrollable urge to get up and move around to get some circulation going. Is that similar to yours?
No J_J, the plantar areas of my feet became painful when walking, but feet are often maddeningly restless at night. It became an issue after a coiling procedure for a SAH.
I was referred to orthotics who provided special insoles for walking, recommended foot massage, and gave advice on magnesium supplements for both discomfort and restlessness.
But my l-o-n-g wait for surgery was unrelated to the brain injury (a painful meniscus injury in March 2023). I had the op 2 weeks ago, so hope to be mobile in the next few weeks.🤞
Hope you find answers before too long J_J.....

Hi
is the pain related to joints or muscles
Have you thought about botox injections to help
A regular stretching exercise program would help and have you thought about hydrotherapy to help relax the muscles
Take care
I’m so sorry Ilovepizza 2024 I completely took over this thread I’ve been having 3 conversations today and have got mixed up in my replies! I sincerely apologize and I’m very embarrassed.
