Questions about Aneurysms and thyroid?

Hello All,

Has anyone who has had a SAH have also been told they have another Aneurysm? Im wondering how they are dealing with this. I have an MRA in Jan and have had 2 CT scans to keep an eye on my 2ml 'A'. The one that ruptured was 7 ×10 April 2020. Also I am being referred to Endocrinology for a suspected underactive thyroid, has anyone had any thyroid issues after SAH?

I have what the GP calls a 'nasty autoimmune disease' that is attacking my thyroid, what exactly has caused it I have not found out. I have been on thyroxin for a number of years now. I haven't had a SAH or aneurysm, I had a stroke (dissection of the vertical artery).

Ok, has the thyroxin help? They have put me on Levothryoxin, Is that the same?

Levothyroxin, thyroxin same thing. It is essential to take as prescribed, as not taking this will be detrimental to health. Yes it corrected the imbalance. GP suggests that eventually I will need a much higher dose as my thyroid gland will eventually be completely destroyed.

The thyroid regulates metabolism. Low levels will cause a lot of the physical and mental processes.

Hi Joanna Helen, I have an aneurysm, which ruptured 2017, causing SAH, despite having had surgery to block it. It’s very unpredictable and has grown again, when going back for more surgery the aneurysm has booked with a blood clot and shrunk amazingly enough, it has stayed this way for now, so that’s where I’m up to love Alice xx

Hi Alice, Thanks for sharing, how often is it checked? Iv been told my second one will be checked yearly after next scan and then less than yearly. One that is clipped seems to be behaving at the moment?Jo x

Yes it’s checked yearly, prior to it blocking off they were coming to the point of probably best to leave well alone, which was quite frightening, they gave me up to five years, so I’m grateful for each day, and hope it stays as it is for a long while love Alice xx

Alice that is frightening. But good its shrunk. I feel like I'm leaving with a ticking time bomb and found out my second Aneurysm is in a place where surgery would not be possible. Coiling could happen? however on a last attempt of this I had a Vasospasm which lead to the clipping. Here's hoping my second one shrinks or doesn't grow anymore? Thanks for sharing. Jo x
