has anyone else got leg weakness ?? I may have asked this before but I need some help in understanding me … 3 years ago I fractured my skull broke my neck in two places , clavicle broken in one side impingement on other shoulder and ruptured hamstring .. from the off I had no idea about the ruptured hamstring until nearly two years past accident .. I could walk but in a lot of pain and continued to struggle with lifting my leg up steps getting out of chairs etc I have worked very hard to improve my flexibility and have been doing yoga for two years but the weakness was still in my legs as I can bend down but can’t push back up and have to use my arms to pull me up .. that’s been ok once the shoulders had had their operations … but now I’ve developed terrible pain in my hip/ glutes/ periformis very painful going up stairs standing from sitting etc …… I also struggle to turn or in the bed and hands are clumsy and grip is weaker … please have any of you had this weakness problems and I also have to pick my foot up and move it to some places in yoga as it won’t move on its own sue 🤔🤔🤔

Hi Sue. I don't think its as bad as what you're describing. But since a stroke mimic in 2016 my left leg doesn't always 'behave'. Sometimes it doesn't move when my brain tells it to. Result is that I can't walk straight anymore and am really conscious of it.

Thank you for your reply .. yeah I can walk and I do lack slightly to one side like into bushes in pavements and into my husband 🤪 I do try to concentrate on getting the muscles to work but most of the time they don’t .. just reassuring to hear others also have strange muscles that don’t seem to work properly .Sue 😊

Yes, sounds like the same problem. I've never had great balance or coordination anyway. Worse thing is that I'm only vaguely aware! :)

Hi Teazymaid,

Yes, very familiar symptoms there! I suffered a hypoxic ABI during cardiac arrest in 2018 and was paralysed. I regained motion in my arms and legs but suffer weakness in my hands especially. I am clumsy and often drop things. I have been unable to walk properly since my injury. I was assessed at home by a neuro-physiotherapist but she stopped treating me as I had no pain management plan in place (and still do not though I have been prescribed pregabalin for neuropathic pain in my legs). I cannot bend my legs - I believe it is appropriate to call the muscles "spastic" - and my core muscles remain paralysed. I have sought rehab but the locum at the GP surgery told me to watch YouTube instead! Apparently there was no funding available to treat me!!

I would speak to your GP about your problems. You may be lucky and live in an area where rehab is offered. It isn't here.

Good luck.

Oh skulls your does seem a lot more saviour than mine and I am so fed up to hear about the lack of rehabilitation .. it’s just so wrong how there is very little to no help at all .. I am confused about the neuro physio couldn’t do any thing because of your pain management 🤔 I can walk and use arms but the muscles just don’t do what I want them to do .. and my arms a weak plus drop things other .. mine fine motor skills arnt good either .. so I’m guessing this is all from the pain in or from the neck .. who know ? It’s just a guessing game as after care is a waiting game .. Sue 🤔

Hi I don't think I'm quite that bad but I have problems with my right side leg and arm. Some days the leg forgets to come with me when I'm walking and I fall over. People must think I mad because then I start on a rant to the leg about how ill chop it off and leve it lol 😆 it's my way of dealing with it. Anyway I find garden helped me I'm not a person for physical therapy no thanks. But I forgot how many muscles you use in the gardening it helps me. Don’t know if something similar would help you. I still get bad days but its getting a bit better. Best bet is to try and see what's good for you. Good luck x

Hi thank you for your reply.. yeah Ive been doing my version of yoga / ti chi type classes as it was something I had done a lot of before, plus gardening or anything I could do to work my legs and arms but the weakness is still there a little better than 4 years ago but still no where near normal .. I also struggle to turn over in bed it’s slow and requires a lot of effort .. .. I was ok ish until the pain that has developed in my hip muscles has put a stop to a lot of things 🤬 I think it’s because it has been compensating for the muscle weakness and would just like this confirmed by a medical person .. as apposed to me just guessing if I’m doing the right or wrong thing .. Sue 😊
