Definitely good advice here to get an MRI. I have a VP Shunt also but mine is due to an AVM that blocks the normal drainage route for fluid.

God, if I put the heating on at home or in the car, my head starts hurting, it's beyond a joke now

Do you think its the change of temperature that does that? I've heard others with Shunts say similar stuff.

after my head injury I had daily migraines. Apparently it was because I was a migraine sufferer before. I tried everything - usual migraine remedies, pills (all of which didn’t get rid of the migraines just made me feel dozy), acupuncture, etc etc. I then found a sports massage therapist who had experience in this and I get a massage once a month. She works mainly on my shoulders and neck. It has given me considerable relief because it relaxes the muscles and in turn stops the nerves in my head throbbing

Hi Suebedoo, I’m exactly the same. As a migraneur I have had daily migraine for three years now. Tried Botox, rimirgepants, Ajovy injections and nada. I wonder how long you’ve had yours? Mine weren’t helped by a car accident a year later!

I had migraines from puberty but they were manageable (as in I could carry on functioning most of the time) until I had my head injury, then they were pretty much daily. Now that I have the massages/sports therapy, I probably get one or two a month and they are manageable again.

Def get back to see GP for some checks. Is there anything in life that's changed to have an effect? Mine are worse when stress is high.

Oh yeah, my life is nothing but stress, bin to see GP, given me nuproxen, I take them and paracetamol, waiting for an appointment for an mri, having a new kitchen fitted next month, be glad when it's done and out the way

Not being funny but if turning the heating on gives you headaches then why turn the heating on in the first place. If you wear a jumper, coat and hat do you get warmer? and by wearing them do you also get headaches?

If you don't get headaches by wearing more warm clothes then you may want to think about what it is about heating that causes headaches. Lots of people get headaches from heating systems because it dries the air out and reduces natural air ventilation because people shut their windows.

If you've been in the car with the heating on do you get better after a while if you get out of the car and get fresh air?

When you have the heating on when driving try opening the window a little to let fresh air into the car.

I feel like crap when the heating is on in the house or car but I just open a window and start to feel better in a short time, try it and find out. If I have no heating on I feel great.

Not what you're looking for?
