I hope Prozac will help you. It can take 4- 6 weeks to be effective. Can you discuss this with your health care provider?

I would talk with your GP .. there are so many types of meditation and possibly this one is not for you .. on the plus side of Prozac which I have taken for years pre accident .. it has helped me so much with depression . I have tried to stop but gradually my mental health declined . I am back on it and I haven’t had the problems you are having .. . So yes it does work but not on everyone 😢 don’t suffer at home please get help .sue x

Am just trying to keep on them for two or three weeks and hope the side effects go away. Seems to be what the information on the Internet says.

So sorry to hear what you are going through.

There are alternatives to Prozac - a friend of mine was on this 'something else', and moved to Prozac to steady off her side effects. So it might work the other way around ?? who knows. i am not a doctor. So glad you are seeing one on Friday.

But you need a strategy to get from today to Friday, with some semblance of stability, before you see the doctor. Please talk to Headway. Map out what you are eating, and what you are drinking, and your whole day, especially exactly when the sickness and dizziness arises and falls - in writing - so the doctor can see that you are trying to 'catch' the elements which make you feel sick. . . that is what my friend did, to then be transferred on to Prozac.

What else can I say? It is miserable making. Books, tv, distractions of other kinds, music, anything . . . just three days to go.... My friend blocked out two hour stints and once when I called her, she said - 'hurray, last two hours, didn't feel sick once'. She remains on Prozac, i think.

See how you go.

The wait for (what I call) 'assimilation' of an SSRi can seem really weird. I feel for you Dave .....really !

As you've said yourself, you've come this far and it makes sense to give the drug another couple of weeks. And, if doesn't work out, there are others, one of which will be a match.

When I found 'The one' it only took a few days to kick in, but matching the appropriate SSRi to an individual's own brain chemistry is trial & error for many of us. Mine has served me well after decades of clinical depression, low esteem & panic attacks. I'm stable now since 1990,

Hang in there for a while longer m'love. I've copied more information from an NHS website :-

Side effects - Antidepressants

The side effects of antidepressants can cause problems at first, but they generally improve with time.

It's important to continue treatment, even if you're affected by side effects, as it will take several weeks before you begin to benefit from treatment. With time, you should find that the benefits of treatment outweigh any problems from side effects.

During the first few months of treatment, you'll usually see your doctor or a specialist nurse at least once every 2 to 4 weeks to see how well the medicine is working.

SSRIs

Common side effects of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs)

feeling agitated, shaky or anxious

feeling and being sick

indigestion and stomach aches

diarrhoea or constipation

loss of appetite

dizziness

not sleeping well (insomnia), or feeling very sleepy

headaches

loss of libido (reduced sex drive)

difficulties achieving orgasm.

difficulties obtaining or maintaining an erection (erectile dysfunction)
