hopefully someone can help as I’m puzzled to the fact that I do exercise and I am improving so much but my leg muscles are still weak even though I my flexibility is very good while doing yoga type classes but my ability to move my legs to another position in yoga is still very low .. you can see my muscles shape improving on my legs it is visibly better just the ability to change /move them is not … has anyone else had these problems as I’m very confused .. sue x

muscle weakness
I am no expert but building muscle definition and then strength is generally slow and repetitive in many cases. Plus of course the neurons in your brain need to find and build new connections around any damaged areas. So I would say keep going, it may be slower than you desire but it will come if you have determination to keep trying. Let us know how you get on?
Best.
Thank you for your reply 😊 I’m most definitely not giving up yet .. I think you are right as in time .. but we just don’t no how long long what we might get .. all I know is doing nothing gets nothing 😁.. I will let you know how I get on and appreciate your input .. Infact I’m now waiting to see physio again as have had pain in my hips .. I think from the lack of muscle power . So doing my own exercises to help build the quads without pressure on hips as I’m sure the physio will get to me within the next 12 months 😂 sue x
Just to add that whilst I have for many years cycled and did so after my discharge from hospital, my leg muscles are even now comfortable doing cycle marathon distances.
A couple of weeks ago I did a sixty three mile event and no problem. Then four days later I was out with friends one night (maybe it was because I jumped out of the car into the cold night air and twisted it slightly) and my calf muscle went, leaving me hobbling, something that has never happened before.
Loads of Deep Heat used for a number of days and gradually the muscle has been less painful and is now just about back to normal. Actually cycling on it since has seemed to help as there is less weight imposed, but there was no instant answer, so much as with your movement issues, here’s hoping that your leg muscle strength will similarly return with time. Just remember that feet, ankles, calves, thighs and hips are all inextricably connected and so it might mean considering everything from shoes through to posture and many more things as well as just muscles. Keep up with your physio’s instructions and I hope the weakness dissipates.
I must admit it do a lot of ice and heat .. I was a first aider with a rugby team for years and the magic ice really does help inflammation 😁 I did tear my hamstring along with other bits of me including head and neck so I’m not surprised I don’t work properly 😁 .. It’s so good to hear your cycling hasn’t been affected and that your still doing brilliant distance work .. I will get there but it definitely won’t be on a bike 😂
