Hi folks,
and here is the back of the card.
The caricature of me was not drawn by me but another artist.
Take care everyone :).
Hi folks,

I've seen the caricature of you before and always think it's a very sophisticated drawing ; modern & classy looking. I remember the original showed your brush and easel. The whole look of the card is really professional !
Great for Christmas. ........and, with drawings (and a logo) like that, you could be quite a name in the greeting card business alone.
We have a small gallery in an adjoining town who accept pictures, greeting cards and postcards from local artists and sell them for a small profit. I often buy cards from there. Is there any such place near where you are Matt ?

You have a good memory :).
The full caricature of me is holding a paintbrush and easel.
If I was able to, I would prefer the caricature of me holding a pencil and paper.
I like what the artist did with me holding the paintbrush and easel but that suggests to me, that I enjoy painting…. Which I don’t :).
I know others would say that the paintbrush and easel would suggest an artist at play, which is what I am.
I always found it funny how people I knew, if they were the older generation, they would always ask me if I was still painting?
And I would normally say that I don’t paint, I prefer drawing. But yes, I am still drawing.
Someone asked me once how my scribbling was coming along and then he corrected himself and said “Well, it’s not exactly scribbling”.
I was thinking that it’s scribbling with style :).
I still think the drawing depicts a dynamic vibe of an artist contemplating his next project. And cropping the picture has actually dispensed with the brush, leaving what looks like the tip of a pencil ! I love it...
I seriously hope you can get yourself 'out there' Matt ; not just for financial reasons but also because your drawings are unique and should seen and celebrated on a much larger scale..... 😏x
Aww, thanks cat :).
I would like my drawings to be more ‘known’ as well but don’t really do much about it.
I sometimes wonder, when I did my display back in 2019, I sold a picture. I’m not sure who bought it, maybe a member of the public.
But if it was a member of the public they may be wondering why I’m not doing more displays.
I was going to do a follow up for 2020 but something came about and hindered that… forgot what it was now ;-).
But now I seem to be getting out more and I don’t have much time for art or setting up displays.
In a way, it’s a shame but I think I will get around to doing that again in time :).
The getting out & about is something of an achievement in itself Matt, and that alone is priceless for quality of life isn't it. I hope you'll keep drawing though, and sharing here.
Maybe you'll become a celebrated artist in senior years !
I did A level art when I was in my thirties and was accepted at Hartford commercial art college, but a divorce, house -move & single parenting got in the way. Life has a habit of skuppering plans. 😏x
I used to do caractures of friends, this is brilliant
