Stopping work

Hi I posted on here a few days ago after bilateral subdural hematoma and burr hole surgery in Feb 2022. I had tried to go back to work in retail and was doing OK I thought. Part time but I have realised I can't do it. No advice or any information when I left hospital. Tried to claim PIP but unsuccessful even at tribunal stage. Does anyone have any tips when reapplying for PIP?

Hi Alfie,Sorry you are going through all this.

I am not in the UK so haven't much in the way of practical advice except ask Headway... number is pinned on the page to the right under helpline

I've a friend in the UK who has gone through it and continues to - it seems she must go to the tribunal every time and often by the time it rolls around she is in to the next 2 year cycle.

Way too stressful for people, it really isn't right.

Some MP needs to go to bat for bi people. They waste money on the process that could help people instead - generally they ought to treat citizens better than they do.

Someone should pop up with expert advice soon.

Good luck.

I’m also waiting to see if I will still get PIP .. the questions I answered were all about what I could do for myself and where I needed help .. not work related at all . It all seemed to be about day to day living washing dressings , cooking , planning a journey, shopping etc I’m waiting to see if if will still get it as I can’t get help anywhere else as my husband works 😢 but I have seen a PIP help centre in my local city .. they may have these dotted around as they are there to help you fill in the form . Good luck sue x

hello,

I am working in retail part time too and it is very difficult cos I am always fatigued. I have applied for PIP, waiting for a decision 😬

There is another benefit ESA, not sure who is eligible to apply. Maybe have a word about it with CAB?

I had a meeting with HR and they agreed temporarily reduce my contracted hours and increase a break time .

Hi, if you put PIP into the search box at the top, it will bring up many entries. You can get the scoring matrix from gov.uk. remember to answer every question as if it is your worst day. Just because you can achieve something on a good day, doesn't mean you can do it constantly.

Hi thank you all for your kind comments. It's very frustrating and when I first came out of hospital I spoke to my GP who was lovely and said she'd get the social prescriber to call me. She couldn't help me fill in my PIP form as I did it myself, I texted the legal services headway mentioned, no reply and went to tribunal and no points scored. Really confused as to what to do first. I never realised benefits were so tricky.
