After a truely crap start to the year things manged to get worse. Then slowly we battle on and finally seem to pull through.
I'm on the up but have the lingering fear of being happy. I know it's part of my depression , waiting for things to go wrong is the big fear of being happy.
The thing I've learnt is not to dismiss this fear but accept things may not stay great for long . The trick is enjoy the good and get through the bad.
I think what I'm trying to say is don't waste time worrying what the future holds but enjoy when things are good. Don't feel afraid of being happy.
To all that have read this far have a merry Christmas and a happy YES HAPPY New year.

Good post Pax ; close to my own heart. I hope 2023 brings us more joy than in the past few years .......I know last year was especially difficult for you.
Hi Pax: Thanks for the reminder that however illusive happiness may be while surviving the bizarre quality of life with brain issues, choosing to be happy is my choice.
Happy New Year! My resolution: To make the most of small bits of happiness in my life.
You're right Paxo, we can still look for the good bits, even with the undeniably tough turn life brought us. A heartfelt hug from a friend, a bright sunny day...Having been forced into the slow lane means I can have the time to 'stop and stare' - if I choose.
I have a theory that if I experience heightened sadness, grief, and anger after my injury, then potentially I can experience moments of heightened happiness as well - compared to my pre BI self.
That's the beauty of being in the slow lane. Also remember if the bout of happiness are temporary itvalso means so are the bouts of sadness and low points.
Aw, bless you Pax. Really hope everything is okay. As someone who worries about EVERYTHING I appreciate your message about enjoying the good things the now and the future holds instead. And I will try.
