Eye problems

Hello everyone, I had a brain hemorrhage September 2021. I have been home about a year. Does anyone else have eye problems since brain injury. In my case the sight has changed alot. I had horizontal double vision before the bleed and by having prisms in my glasses my sight was fine. However after the bleed my double vision is horizontal and vertical, the vertical vision is more of a problem the optitioner said he can't treat the vertical problems, so must wear a patch, this causes problems focusing for long periods. The Neurology specialist has written to eye specialist at the hospital that was about 7 months ago, but I still have not received a date for an appointment. I have phoned the eye specialist secretary who has said there is a long waiting list, because appointments were stopped because of Covid.

Has anyone else had eye problems because of a bleed?

I really enjoy reading comments and experiences on this site, I think it is a great site I have replied to other users who have queries.

The site reassures you that you are not the only one going through this.

Hi SkydivesurvivorI am lucky my husband helps me alot. If we are out and I say I can't see where I am, he will say walk to left or right, so I don't fall over or bump into anything. As you say we are lucky to be still alive. My husband was told when he was called into the hospital that I was not expected to live.

Merry Christmas x

Hi Notts22I've had eye problems before the mild TBI - but after it, there appears to be a bleed into the right eye.

A team at Oxford Eye Hospital (a part of the John Radcliffe) are treating it.

Improvements after injections into the eyeball. Review after the third, which is in January.

You might ask for a referral. Don't know where you are, so may not be practical. I'm not nearby either, but happen to have landed on my feet, when my optometrist knew exactly where to refer.

Wish you a happy Christmas.

Your afflictions sound worse than mine. We're both lucky to have supportive partners.

Take care, as you go. I've just had a day of brain fog. . . Terrifying. Could see that what was happening was unusual, but couldn't work out exactly why. Slept a bit better last night. Today a little less acute.

Day by day. . . Don't let it get you down. It is stepped, but there are minor improvements. They do add up.

Xx

I had sah 7 years ago and had alot of eye problems . Tersons syndrome following haemorrhage appears to have no treatment. Cataracts following vitrectomies so 4 surgeries. Glasses with prisms too. Various distortions. So you not alone but no panacea.
