Tectal Plate lesion

After 1 MRI i was diagnosed with a TP lesion August 2019 as a result of double vision developing quickly. I was referred to a neurosurgeon who looked more closely at the MRI and found another lesion - a meningioma on my Optic Nerve. In addition to the Optic Nerve lesion i was also diagnosed with 6th Nerve Palsy which makes my double vision worse.

A craniotomy was done on 7 Jan 2020 to remove the benign lesion. Alas, surgery traumatised the Optic Nerve so I still have double vision and 6th nerve palsy.

I am currently having 9 monthly MRIs to monitor the TP lesion.

For the past 5 months i have had issues with hypersensitive skin - especially on my neck and chest for which a skin specialist and an allergist have not been able to diagnose.

Today i saw a new GP who did a "google" search and found that the TP could cause skin sensations.....I now have an appointment with a Neurologist in 3 months time. I am utterly perplexed at my latest medical report.

Anyone out there with similar situation?

I know nothing about TP lesions but I just wanted to say sorry to hear what you are going through.

I’ve heard of meningiomas as I was told they are often incidental findings on MRI when I’d seen that in an MRI report. Here the ones on the spine they just leave alone and don’t remove.

I hope your vision is slowly recovering. I had double vision from the TBI and it took time to heal that along with months of vision therapy. I’d assume if the side effects were from surgery it might be a similar process you can ask about.

Best wishes in your path to healing. 😊
