Cranioplasty update

Morning,

Sorry I haven’t been on for a while. It’s taken a little bit longer than planned to get back up and running after my op. I felt fine for the 1st week or so, then ended up with quite a lot of swelling on the area where the plate was fitted and a high temperature. Ended up in local a&e for best part of 30 hours then transferred to Kings (should have gone there in the 1st place!) have had 3 CT scans and an MRI in the past few weeks, they wanted to make sure that the plate wasn’t infected. The swelling has pretty much all gone now and I am almost back to full strength (had the wound glued as they just wanted to make sure it healed). Once again the staff at Kings have been nothing less than amazing.

I at least managed to get to my Mums funeral before my head had a funny turn. It was a lovely day and she would have been happy to see so many people there for here.

Nathan

Hi Catperson. You 'Felt fine for the first week' but I suspect you 'magicked' that somehow ! I remember how alert and positive you seemed at first and was so pleased you made it to your mum's funeral, but I did wonder whether the two ordeals would catch up with you eventually.

It's so good hearing you've beaten this backward step in progress but, after only a month, try to minimise stress and physical exertion ; you've still a heap of recovery from both a serious op and loss of your mum to achieve. Cat Xx

Hi catperson, well done you, on your recovery and attending mums funeral, take a step back now and take it easy for a while, let things sink in and give yourself time to grieve for your beloved mum, I know with dementia we lose them before they die really, but remember the good times, take care love Alice xx

Pleased for you coming thru this. Also pleased you managed to go to your mum's funeral. Sorry for your loss. You have been thru a lot. Lots of slow pacing and rest needed now, probably. Take care.

Thank you. We had a planned trip to Amsterdam to see the Tulips with my parents in law last week. I needed to make sure I rested but was able to do much more than I hoped
