PIP: PIP have just decided to write to my dr and... - Headway
PIP
Happened to me too. Fight, fight and fight some more. Had to provide shedloads of evidence. Appealed their decision to stop the benefit and then go to a tribunal. The scum dropped the case 24 hours before the court date. Try not to worry, you'll win...
Many thanks for your reply but the hospital as not yet found the underlining problem that’s causing me to collapse most of the, had the paramedics out this morning at 3am. I’ve sent them over 100 letters from health people how much more do they want, so they extended my PIP until May next year so they can get answers from the doctors and cardiologist. Regards Ian
Morning… PIP is awarded on affects on FUNCTIONALITY, not a particular diagnosis. The DWP should be aware of this! This is in the legislation, and is in the DWPs own Decision Maker’s Guidance.
Also, apparently, now, if the DWP want to ‘cut’ your award in any way they need to explain (and prove) how you have magically improved and the date this improvement began… (The judge needs to be able to prove this is true at Tribunal stage). They need to give good reasons based on medical evidence…
Benefits & Work is worth the £20 annual fee… Good Luck..
Hi Ian, it is just part of the trials and tribulations they put us through, it doesn't necessarily mean they are after you, although paranoia is healthy when it comes to the DWP.
This time they were strangely helpful with my reassessment. Previously I have had to take them through to tribunal, only for them to cancel it just before the date.
Best wishes
Ian
I did say paranoia in jest, but I do know how you are feeling having been in your situation, it is stressful, but you are strong, and you will fight all the way.
Hi. The Scope helpline on 0808 800 2244 are very good for support and information on this type of thing.
Don't forget that you don't have to have a specific diagnosis to qualify for PIP, it's about how your difficulties affect you day to day. I have never had a formal diagnosis at all as my ABI was caused by a surgeon and no doctors wanted to implicate him.
I wish you the best.
Hi many thanks for your message it was nice of you, hence my late reply but had paramedics out at 3am this morning as I collapsed in my hallway and been sleeping since, I keep having these episodes and they can cause TIA which they have done in the past, my heart is only working at 51% and blood some times don’t get to my brain, had letter from hospital today they’ve fixed me a date for a angiogram and stent on the 9th of June and of course DWP want a copy, but the trouble is they have not found the underlying problem yet, it’s been going on for several years now and suddenly after I kept moaning to my doctor they referred me to hospital, due to the Covid everything is running so late. Kind Regards Ian
Oh, I am so sorry, that sounds very hard to deal with. The last thing you need is stress from the DWP. I hope it turns out to go smoothly and doesn't get complicated.I really don't understand when we tell authorities or benefits agencies about our difficulties, they sometimes then still act as tbough they expect us to be able to deal with things like a healthy person would. I have periods of severe cognitive problems but some agencies still expect me to process information as though I am fine.
Sending you my best wishes for your health and for a quick and positive resolution to the PIP issue.
