Hi guys!

I'm very happy to have found this place to share ideas and points of view with people are living this strange experience.

I'd like to know some people to chat and talk about.

Geopolitics, law and travel are my passions but I like many other arguments, specially about what I don't know.

Write me about you, what are you living and whatever you like!

I'll be happy to read about you!

Hi A, welcome to the forum - I hope you find it helpful. 'People all living this strange experience' is a really good way to describe it. We are, aren't we?

I was sorry to read about your accident - has Covid in Italy disrupted medical care as it has here in the UK? What sort of rehabilitation care have you received so far?

Look forward to seeing you around - your English is considerably better than my Italian 😊

Right, the proper point is "how" we are living this experience. The basic one, but not less important, is that we are living it (this is the first step just, we can always improve).

Now I'm doing some physiotherapy and speech therapy. Physiotherapy home mainly.

I should do something more appropriate but there are not many options on the island.

Any suggestion is welcome.

Tell me about you!

What are you looking for?

Covid in Italy it's very tough, people without it are in oblivion.

We have like 4/300 people dead every day and percentage of positive on swabs it's like 8-9%.

A huge issue is medical planning it's regional (we have 19 plus 2) and not centralized by the national government.

Hopefully warm weather and vaccine will help us.

How is it going in UK?

I can help you with Italian and you can help me with English :)

Hello A,

Covid levels here are getting lower. Death rate is circa 100 a day - it is awful that we just accept this now. (We are now about back where we were 9 months ago in mid June). We are still in lockdown, but restrictions on meeting outside are due to be relaxed next week. 40% of the population has had 1 dose of the vaccine.

This is very positive of course - but the context is that so far our death rate per million (1884) is one of the worst in the world (top 4 😱) I think Italy isn't far behind us though sadly, based on these statistics: statista.com/statistics/110...

I'm glad you are getting physio and speech therapy.

I've had physio - it was very useful. Improved my oculomotor and vestibular symptoms, and headache caused by nerves in my neck - and addressed my de-conditioning and exercise intolerance - based on Leddy's research in the USA pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/300...

I'm doing quite well now - my last neuropsychiatrist and neuropsychology appointments are this week, and I stopped taking the SNRI antidepressant a while ago.

I couldn't go back to my old job though, and I need to manage my fatigue. But better than I was!

Yes, it is still umbelievable.Media here say the UK it is an good example how the vaccine was given to the population. I'm not following much but I'm glad that one dose it's enough for the moment.

Physiotherapy was very usefull for you, that's very motivating!

What is SNRI?

Even if you enjoyed your last job you can get a new one even better, never give up with positive attitude.

Hi A,

I was on Duloxetine, it's an antidepressant which also helps with pain relief - it's used for people with fibromyalgia. This drug and the physio stopped my 24/7 headache.

Duloxetine is one of a class of drugs called selective serotonin noradrenaline re-uptake inhibitors - that increase the levels of serotonin and noradrenalin in the brain. There's evidence that they (and the selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors - SSRI ) when taken for long enough, can actually resolve the disruption in the white matter of the brain caused by both mild traumatic brain injury, and also depression.
