I got the first dose of the covid vaccine this morning (Pfizer). I feel very lightheaded and disoriented now. Is this a normal side effect of the covid vaccine?

Covid vaccine- first dose
I had mine three weeks ago (Pfizer) with no after-effects apart from slight soreness around the injection site and a few sniffles for a couple of days. Some folks mention a headache and others shivery, flu-like symptoms.
But lightheadedness and disorientation can be symptoms of anxiety ; do you think you were tense during your time at the vaccination centre ? Maybe see how you're feeling on Mon/Tues and phone your GP if your symptoms persist. Hope you're feeling better by tomorrow m'dear.. x
I had mine last Tuesday, was fine on the Wednesday, then Thursday onwards I felt drained and all my muscles were sore; I spent 3 days in bed. I also suffered a headache for 2 days. Nothing out the norm really 😂
Everyone reacts differently and it seems to affect younger people more than the elderly. I've been suffering bouts of fatigue since my brain injury so it could be the reason behind my reaction to the vaccine.
Take care and rest up if you need to.
I had some of the same after effects. I was slightly feverish -- which may account for the lightheadedness. I also was rather tired for two days. They say feeling these side effects is a good sign. Of course, I would follow the guidance they gave you and notify your doctor if the side effects get severe or persist.
I had mine 3 weeks ago (Pfizer) and thought I was fine until I realised I was heading home in the wrong direction from the clinic! However, no other side effects. We're all different.
I had mine last tuesday I was the same but taste went for a day too, so I had a covid test on saturday negative, so all good
Sorry to hear that Ric. I did see a lady complaining of feeling faint during the 'watching & waiting' period. But both doctor and a nurse attended immediately and after checking her vitals and an extra monitoring period she seemed recovered, but the doctor phoned a taxi and asked the driver to collect the lady personally from reception after asking what the fee would be and assuring her the cost would be covered... great service indeed !
I must say the staff were friendly and sensitive and the process from start to finish was faultless in its efficiency.
Hope you'll soon be back to par m'love.... x
Good grief ...that sounds scary ! And I might've sneaked out early had the exit not been manned by really keen staff ; it really is not worth the risk is it Ric..
Neither my daughter nor I have the flu vaccine since our first ones. We had them at a joint GP appointment and we both suffered prolonged symptoms. Initially neither of us considered side-effects, but after many weeks of feeling rotten it's been a big no-no ever since. So we were reluctant to go for the Covid jab but knew it was the right thing to do and thankfully no issues (daughter had the AtraZeneca - mine was Pfizer).
I keep hearing how severe side-effects means more effective vaccination ?? 🤔😏 But I'm glad you're feeling better now after what sounds like a rough few days.
Take care Ric x
Just an update Ric. My daughter had hers this morning and phoned to say she felt fine. You're quite right about not having to wait after the AZ vaccine and she went straight off shopping afterwards. But tonight, quite late, she phoned to say she has severe flu like symptoms and feels dreadful.
Not so dramatic as your reaction but it seems there's a propensity for adverse effects from both vaccines. Poor girl ; she knows she can call me anytime if her symptoms worsen.
Hope you're sleeping soundly now and feeling even better tomorrow ! x
