Seven months into recovery from SAH and after a rough couple of days I tested positive for Covid this morning. I'm usually quite good at looking stuff up but I'm drawing a blank finding any information about additional risks and actions I should consider/take. Plenty of stuff about neurological problems after you catch it but very little about what you should do if you already have a brain injury.
I'd appreciate pointing in the right direction of any info out there and/or learning from any experience you've had.
I'm not too ill at the moment, had intense shivering, hot/cold spells and a slight temperature, which was exactly the same as my reaction to the first vaccine.
Thanks 👍

Sorry you've caught Covid Davy. I don't know any specifics, but I do know that since my MTBI having any virus tends to knock me out more than it used to, so take things gently. Hope you go on alright though.
Hi Davy i had a SAH and an Intraparenchymal and intraventricular haemorrage 3 and a half years ago and i caught covid in May the day after i came back of holiday, mine started like you with the intense shivers ,hot and cold spells and i did a covid test from the 7 day kit which was positive, next day it was just like having a cold and sneezing a lot it lasted 7 days but i didn't find it a big issue the worst was probably the shivers at the beginning
Hi Davy. I tried pasting a link to Headway's advice on Covid after brain injury. The link doesn't work for me but if you type in the following it should get you there :-
Hi Davy, I had an SAH 40 years ago. This link provides information about COVID/Immunology from the British Society Immunology.
There are many different research studies being carried by the BSI and partners.
If you have specific questions then contact them directly via website. They will not be able to provide individual requests around personal issues but can provide info around specific topics i.e. the questions that you raise around brain injury and COVID. here is a link
I have to admit to not seeking additional information when I tested positive for Covid a year after my TBI. I was worried because I have other health issues too but thankfully my reaction was very mild, more like a heavy cold. Hooefully you’ll have a mild dose too.
doesn’t seem to be much stuff about increased risks, personally I don’t cope with colds etc well so COVID19 both times did rather flattten me, and for myself took about two weeks to feel human again another two to back to normal for myself.
It is still quite early days for these things so still unknowns realistically.
