I wonder if anyone can give me a bit of a steer here. My husband can't read at the moment as he says everything is all jumbled up. But loves the news. He would usually be attached to the Guardian App on his phone but has given up on that as it's all print. He's still in rehab so no visitors. Does anyone know of a news app that I could download which would be audio and video only. Where he could just tap and play instead of have to read/search stories?
Thanks!!

Local Rnib might be able to help too? Here in Cambridge we have a charity called camsight who help people who are blind/partially sighted and have volunteers who make podcasts /read to people.Personally I used the local library to get talking books on CD when I was unable to read. But appreciate this isn't quite what you are looking for.
Our local library has an app you can get audio books from - I used it when the neuropsychologist suggested audiobooks to relax to, instead of reading? Must be so difficult not being able to be there x
I've done a couple of Audible books for him. So hopefully it will help him pass some of the time that he doesn't want to spend on Netflix or whatever.🙂
Hi Ored - I've just found a load of news broadcasts in Spotify - including the Guardian open.spotify.com/episode/37... and thought of you.... I was messing about with the alarms on my mobile that I linked to Spotify, and saw it suggests news programmes to wake up to. A quick hunt on Spotify ( I've only got the freebie version) revealed a plethora of stuff I have never seen before!x
Oh that's excellent thank you so much. I'll have to have a dig about. I've been sending him some channel 4 news as a link on Skype so will be able to do this as well. Thanks for this!!!😁
Some good advice here. I couldnt even use a phone apparently initially never mind about worrying to read it. So dont ever give up.
There are obviously resources out there, but the fact he is showing interest in the news is obviously a very good thing and indicator of his desire to get back to normality.
Hope things progress, but dont expect it overnight. Small steps and all that.
Yes exactly. As a family I think we're over compensating a bit for the fact that we can't be there physically. So frustrating. Just knowing that he wants to do something but can't...like pick something to watch on his tablet is so hard. He's managing a bit better with the tablet. The phone is out the window for now. But yes you're 100% we have to go slowly so we don't overwhelm him.
