Hi. The tinnitus is a crazy issue I’m having to deal with. Some medications can even add to your headaches. I was told by the neurosurgeon that gave me results of latest scan to try and get off some of the “dirty drugs“ as he called them. Oxycodone being one of them. I take meds and I still have the headaches. So I’m trying to take ownership of this mess and coming off everything and then see what pain I’m left with. I just seemed to be taking stuff and still having issues. My GP has been patient with me and listens but I just am not getting anywhere with this. I’d talk to your GP. My tinnitus is not featuring in any discussion because there’s other issues but that in itself disturbs sleep, discomfort and drives you crazy!

Have a think about whether you need a full medication review. If what you currently on doesn’t work then it’s a “no brainer” pardon the pun but it’s wasting time and god knows how these meds are affecting other parts of our bodies. I get upset.... the buzzing thing in my head persistent.... I’m trying to take control of this situation. If I fail then at least I’ll know it wasn’t the meds causing escalating headaches. 😐🌸

Thanks fo that. I have been on citalopram of varying doses for 2.5 years and now off for 2 weeks . Having spoken with doc I'm on promethazine for bad dreams early am and daily lanzoprazole for grumbly stomach but that's just recent. Spoken re tinitis but had for years tho only aware when headaches and fullness/dizzy. I moan then read of others much worse . At least I'm mobile.....but........ I don't think there is enough knowledge to give a true answer due to inability to "look" deep into brains. Some people are strong and can fight it like a friend of mine

Take care my friend

Hello Ass28. I’ve got tinnitus from bleed from my ear in a TBI.

Saw a neurologist recently for banging migraines, that he recommended Tramadol. I mentioned the problems with addiction because has happened over the years where you get false pain. He said it doesn’t matter if I become addicted because it’s the best thing for migraines.

This makes my tinnitus scream like like banshee.

Other meds can make worse, others not at all.

TV 📺 has trigger noises that you can’t have time to switch the volume down in time.

Plastic bags and other scrunching noises triggers the screaming in my ear 😱.

I got wax and skin blocked in my other ear and tinnitus started in that. 2 weeks of warm olive oil got rid of the wax skin and tinnitus. (That was a different scream).

So the original tinnitus was caused from a bleed in my brain from an RTA TBI, where I though I’d try warn olive oil in my ear that might get rid of the blood and tinnitus in the right ear. Yet to try it out.

My mum has tinnitus and has different triggers and the odd ones the same as mine. She got it from a replacement grommet in her ear that was cocked up years ago.

The more we think about Tinnitus the worse it gets.

Your trigger things maybe different and how was yours caused?

My mum deals with hers by having radios on all the time.

I deal with my by silence. Or Tv on low

If I ask my mum is your tinnitus screaming, she mostly mentions no, but you’ve reminded me so it’s started louder.

But medication makes it worse especially Tramadol.

They do hearing aids to play the same noise back in your ear cancelling the noise out.

I have bad insomnia and dizziness etc that Trazadone helped pretty well.

Gabapentin is good to relieve pain but I got painful pressure on my chest with gall stones, so stopped.

Trazadone I took for over 10 years so can’t be that bad, but trying now to find medication that does my dizziness, sleep and pain because I was taken of morphene.

And cinnerazine helps dizziness and also helps sleep, that I’ve taken for years. The only problem with this with me is that if I take a full tablet at night, the next days my brain feels funny and easily confused. But worth a try.

Hope the helps.

Ta for that my tinnitus has been with me for years but very low volume . Accident was trauma to head with multiple bleeds. Tinnitus vvhigh pitched wire sound now continuous. Have friend who has sound phones attached to glassesbehind ears and he says he has never been so good ...but v expensive although great as it works. It would be grand to have a trial tho he had examination and the correct thing prescribed so don't know what to do

I suppose it depends on how it is wrecking your daily life. I warn myself knowing it will start screaming 😱 taking pain medication. Where I’d rather be low on pain and put up with a screaming ear than the other way round.

One person’s benefit could be another disaster and a waste of money. I know there’s no cure.

The more you think about it the loader the tinnitus will get. With mine screaming while I write this.

My mum had a hearing aid fitted years ago that counter acts the tinnitus. But when it was bad that gadget was useless, and she never wore it again.

If your spending that much, do a list of the best reasons to have, and the bad reasons to have.

I’m not in your shoes 👞👞 so don’t know how if it’s the worst thing in your life or a minor thing.

With me my TBI and many shattered bones 🦴 and pain puts the tinnitus lower down on my scale however load it gets.

Investigate a lot more.

I just looked and Tinnitus sound app on phones. Try that first, you never know. Or change medication if your on any. I just found out codeine phosphate makes my tinnitus worse as well.

Best of luck finding something to help your head 😜.
